I had the same problem when I brought my UK BD player to the US.

At first I thought that only the player menu screens would be inaccessible, and that if I played a non-50hz BD I'd get an image. But unfortunately not - the player usually waits for the HDMI handshake to complete before doing anything, and of course, the handshaking never completes.

Thank you so much for that explanation. In all my dealings with Panasonic and Samsung tech support, neither mentioned anything like that, which is to be expected. I guess I'll just have to use it on a different TV then. At least you saved me the hassle of sending back across the Atlantic.

Is there anyway to convert the signal or anything?
