Only a DVD set full of extras? Why not cram it all on the BD as well? Whatever, I might get it.

Worth noting is a shipping a bit high.

Address in the States (in my case California) is $8.50 + Tax.

Better off just getting the very nice Canadian steelbook.

US release seems like a waste, to me. 2 DVDs and it's like the BD is thrown in for the heck of it--plus the cost is almost $30. You can get the UK version (Lionsgate release, single disc BD) from Amazon UK for about $13 shipped.

Yep, and it has NO special features.

Canadian Steel is the only way to go.

I'm not a fan of steelbooks so this is the way to go for me. I'm okay with the special features not being on a blu-ray disc as long ad the main feature is. Preordered.

Good thing I don't care about special features or gimmick packaging. Yeah, $13 shipped works for me (since region locking isn't a factor).

The US packaging is probably worse than the steelbook packaging, but I'm not a fan of either.

There is a regular amaray (with slip) version in Canada, exact same discs as the steelbook with all special features on the blu-ray.

$8.50 shipping...screw that. Hopefully Amazon carries it.

Damn dude, do you like anything exciting or just plain jane dull amaray cases?

Also, not sure how you can classify a steelbook as "gimmick" packaging! lol

Default UK release vs US

I have the UK BD release and can provide a comparison to the advance US BD release specs.
UK - 1 BD disc - MPEG-4 AVC 1080p - Region B locked
Feature: DTS HD MA Surround 5.1 English with optional English subtitles
Making Of short: DTS HD MA 2.0 English - no subtitles (except when French is spoken)
T for Turbo short: DTS HD MA 2.0 English - no subtitles (except when French is spoken)
There are no other extras and no commentary tracks.

The US 3-disc release (early Feb.?) has a BD Feature disc with DTS HD MA 5.1 English or DD 5.1 English or DD 2.0 English or DD 5.1 French - subtitle options of English (SDH), Spanish or French. It also has optional English or French commentary tracks.

It has a NTSC DVD with the same audio options as the BD except all are Dolby Digital. No video specs yet.

It has a third DVD that contains the two shorts indicated above plus:
Mini Docs: Fantasia, Gore, Stunt, Funny, The Kid, Apple, Zeus;
Festival Introductions: BIFFF (Brussels), Edinburgh (UK), Sitges (Spain);
Still Galleries (3): Design/On Set, Fan Art, 'The Ride' booklet;
Official Trailer and some unrelated trailers

As you can see there are differences. Whether those differences are important are up to you.

$35 for delivery to Ireland lol, a grand total of $55.
No thanks, I'll pick up the regular blu and leave those jokers to their fun.

That said it looks like a great release although they should replace one of the DVDs with a CD soundtrack.

Based upon the shipping charges they are using, it would appear that they are shipping USPS Priority (& International) Small flat rate box. I will know when it arrives, but the charge comes to those rates. I am guessing that they want to be sure it gets to you.
