We're Samsung Value Partners and my contacts told me the launch is the 3rd week of February. Best Buy may have a one week advantage on the launch?

It's also possible that they change the date again to align with a 3rd week launch.

That's true for a lot of the tech on their site. Heck of it is there doesn't seem to be a similar embargo on Panasonic's players, so if their UHD deck appears on the .com site then I might just have to take a punt on it (I'd prefer a region A player for regular BD playback anyway).

That's a good idea, Geoff D, for those that don't have a multi-region BD player importing a UHD BD player from the US would fill that hole. Shame that some manufacturers are imposing embargos on exports through Amazon, but not all manufacturers do.

Okay, but when I was trying to order this weekend it wasn't even shown as available for pre-order.

I know, the page was removed from some reason, then they got it back up. It stayed in my open orders though.

If you go into the "change my order" section on bestbuy.com it will allow you to do in store pickup. I am tempted to do it but I wonder what the chances are that all stores will get them at launch. I don't want to switch only to find out that my store isn't getting any and now the website is out of stock so I can't have one shipped instead. Just a bit nervous about having a $400 player sitting on my porch all day.

Anyone have any info on why I cannot find preorder pages for the player or any of the announced movies from Canada retailers? I'm in canada and Amazon Canada/ Best Buy Canada/Walmart etc, have no listings for anything 4K related. Please explain

Search 4K + Blu-ray + Digital Copy on amazon.ca for movies, not sure about the player.
