Default Fugitive Blu-Ray

I am a big fan of this movie but not a fan of the current Blu-Ray quality. Has anyone heard of seen the possiblity of a quality upgrade for Blu-ray?

I borrowed the Blu-ray version from a friend and compared it back to back with my DVD. You can barely see a difference and I am pretty confident the sound is better on the DVD.

Just checking.

Then you're probably watching it on a small or non-calibrated TV. 'Cause the Blu-ray definitely has a sharper image, even if it's not as pristine as a new release.

I will be honest though that really you can't tell it is a blu-ray. It is terrible.

I think "terrible" is overly harsh for this title. It is certainly not terrible.

lweap2? Take the time and type it out.

Yes the Fugitive looks terrible. It looks like an upconverted DVD. I would not buy a release because I barely watch the movie as it is.

So I guess the word on the street is there will be no quality version of this film.

It's too bad because I honestly put it in my top 5 movies of all time. There is no chase/crime movie that comes close(cough unless Dark Knight is considered similar... LOL).

Warner used an awful HD master for this movie and didn't realize it was done technically wrong until after releasing the HD DVD and Blu-ray. A few other early WB titles are like this such as Perfect Storm (not the remastered Blu-ray but the initial HD DVD). It could be some time though before we see Warner remaster this BD.

This movie still remains as one the best of all parties involved (director, main actors), so I guess its not to hard to believe that some day we will get a better bd version with better PQ and lossless audio (like total recall, basic instinct), but who knows when..

well the Australian (region B also) version was so poor that I immediately returned it for a refund... it was no better than the DVD upconverted, and it is the only Blu-Ray that is not a noticeable improvement over DVD that I have seen...

It may not have great quality, but for only $13.95 on Amazon it's still worth buying. Great movie, just saw it on TNT tonight. Ordered the Blu-ray at the super-cheap price.

The Fugitive on BD was one of my first buys. And after I watched it I thought, if this is why I paid almost $6,000 for a HT setup...then I got screwed over. I thought it was barely passible as a Blu-ray release.

But then I bought and watched Planet Earth, Dave Matthews and a few others, which helped ease the pain of watching The Fugitive's awful transfer.
