Right, the U.K. disc has AVC instead of MPEG-2 and lossless audio, but drops the extras found on the U.S. disc. Besides both use the same antiquated master.

Ok here goes... many updates made and maybe even some title don't belong but post it all anyways and you can decide. There are probably still some small errors here and there but VERY hard to find complete specs for the rest. And yes I put ???? marks everywhere to make it easy to see what we are missing. Now you all can do the rest....

I own the Australian Sony disc for this, which I can confirm has high bitrate. According to the database 41.00Mbps, which was submitted by Atexp80, so it should be accurate:

The bitrate for the U.S release on the list doesn't match up with the entry in the database, which says 35.00 Mbps:

Which is correct?

Does the U.S 2D only disc have a higher AVC bitrate than the 3D disc? Or is the 35.00 Mbps bitrate meant to be for the 3D release, combining the AVC and MVC birates, but was accidentally put against the 2D only release?

Right but it has different colors than the JP edition that you said looked off.

Correction for Heavenly Creatures Canadian, it should be noted that the current listing is for the 2011 BD/DVD combo edition which is 1080p and also keeps the theatrical scope ratio (identical encode to the OOP US Lionsgate release).

The 2010 Canadian release uses an older 1080i open-matte 16:9 master.

Code:
2010 Canadian Release

I don't see any 2D bitrates on here only 3D with 35 Mbit that doesn't say anything since 3D isn't using avc alone but mvc so I'll take that as incorrect for now. And with a correct scan on BDinfo you never can get 35.00 Mbps as result. It would read maybe 34998 kbps or something so that's why you can't take anything just written on this database as it's often early/wrong.

The correct 3D specs for NOR disc as an example is:
Disc Title: SAW 7 3D
Video: MPEG-4 AVC Video / 26278 kbps / 1080p / 23,976 fps / 16:9 / High Profile 4.1
Video: MPEG-4 MVC Video / 13829 kbps /

Another I have is:
Disc Title: SAW_7_3D
MPEG-4 AVC Video 18500 kbps 1080p / 23,976 fps / 16:9 / High Profile 4.1
MPEG-4 MVC Video 9415 kbps

The one I'm basing my numbers on is this one:

MPEG-4 AVC Video 26998 kbps 1080p / 23,976 fps / 16:9 / High Profile 4.1

AUDIO:

Codec Language Bitrate Description
----- -------- ------- -----------
DTS-HD Master Audio English 5550 kbps 7.1 / 48 kHz / 5550 kbps / 24-bit (DTS Core: 5.1 / 48 kHz / 1509 kbps / 24-bit)
Dolby Digital Audio French 640 kbps 5.1 / 48 kHz / 640 kbps / DN -4dB
Dolby Digital Audio English 224 kbps 2.0 / 48 kHz / 224 kbps / DN -4dB / Dolby Surround
Dolby Digital Audio English 224 kbps 2.0 / 48 kHz / 224 kbps / DN -4dB / Dolby Surround

SUBTITLES:

Codec Language Bitrate Description
----- -------- ------- -----------
Presentation Graphics English 29,570 kbps
Presentation Graphics English 33,648 kbps
Presentation Graphics Spanish 27,891 kbps

And since I myself prefer 2D and all other Saw is 2D that's the bitrates I hunt

Ah seems Sony Japan got out of Saw business after 1-5 then since they often use TrueHD. Nice to have some more info, now we only need those BDinfo bitrates

Haha thank you. It was a hassle :P Well, easy and cheap, the french boxset I would say. It has the overall best quality if you take price into account and uncut status. The real comparison I would like to see is that new Austrian Final Edition boxset vs the french. Those are the only two with that special directors cut on Saw 3 but I think the french is the only with lossless audio on all so I probably lean to french anyways

PQ wise the JP discs is amazing but you loose on the r-rated status there for some of the titles I found out just recently.

If someone really like the Saw movies and want to add some more info to the list, here you will find more details on extras and such. http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/search.php

Sorry but no blu-ray can have 41.00 Mbps as average video bitrate. Too high for the blu-ray specifications. That's why BDinfo is the only way to get correct data.

Fixed. I added re-release to CA release. I also updated the Saw entries.

Sometimes some members simply round the bitrates off when they enter them into the database. The U.S version I linked to with the 35.00 Mbps bitrate was the 2D only version. The U.S 3D entry doesn't have a video bitrate listed against it in the database. I don't take anything that is listed in the database as fact until I can confirm the info myself, or I know and trust the member who entered the specs. However, if there are specs listed, in this case a 35.00 Mbps bitrate, it came from someone, and I am curious where they got this info from and whether it is correct or not. If the 26998 kbps bitrate for the U.S disc that you posted is correct, is this for the AVC stream only? If not, then it's a little low for a 3D release. As far as I'm aware, when you enter a bitrate for a 3D release into the database, you are meant to combine the AVC and MVC bitrates together. My thought process was that the 35.00 Mbps bitrate might have been meant for the U.S 3D release but was accidentally submitted against the 2D release, because if the 26998 Kbps bitrate you posted is the AVC only, with the MVC bitrate added to it should be somewhere around 35.00 Mbps.

There is a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track on the disc for the Japanese track.

The 41.00 Mbps would be the AVC and MVC bitrates combined. The member who submitted that bitrate uses BDinfo.

I ended up just today, having been inspired by a lot of the posts between you and Cevolution lately, after making and cancelling about 50 different orders on Amazons all across the globe, ordering:

Saw Quadrilogy - JP
(I went with this over the big FR set as I prefer the unrated Saw III and this is the only disc that has it in great quality, these will be my go to discs for all four of these movies)

Saw I - V - DE
(This was the most economically efficient way for me to supplement I/II with quality presentations of the unrated cuts and all the extras. Saw II has a cheap FR disc listed on Amazon but any way I found to add Saw to that came out quite a bit more than this set with I/II uncut with all extras, VC-1, DTS HD-HR)

Saw V, VI - US
(To upgrade to lossless for these from that cheap set, whatever drawbacks these discs have I'm fine living with, at least at this point)

I can't imagine I won't be happy with this combo added to my DVD of the Saw III director's cut (a curiosity for me not, at least at this point, throwing the $15-$20 minimum to upgrade to BD) and Saw 3D Ca I got a few weeks ago.

I can't wait to watch all the Saw movies with lossless audio and Saw III with a solid video presentation.

Nice one I love my JP Saw Quadrilogy because of the outstanding PQ.

But for V-VI you really should add JP or maybe some other disc with lossless 7.1 because the US disc is pretty low bitrate compared. JP V is cheap on amazon, ordered it myself a day ago VI is OOP and second hand only.

And I don't like the directors cut version of III myself either, prefer Unrated.
