Doesn't the Sony have the option in the sound menu to change the optical output from PCM to Auto? Or have ye tried that already?

So after reading what seems like thousands of posts about the new Ultra 4K Blu-Ray players, I have a few questions. I looked up the stats on my tv and learned that only the MHL port on my tv has HDCP 2.2, is HDMI 2.0 not 2.0a, and has a lower subsampling ratio than my other HDMI ports. What would I be missing out on with those options? Can they be firmware upgraded? Will HDR work? TV is Samsung UN65HU8550.
