Well this is certainly a surprise, thought they had given up releasing it after Season 2.

I'll do what I did with the first two seasons, wait for them to hit a tenner.

What with this, and the Mutant X set, what are the odds that Earth: Final Conflict shows up as well?!

These are just terrible upconversions like Farscape, right?

Slightly worse than the Farscape upscales. It's at least noticeable that they tried to do a decent job with Farscape. Andromeda, the BDs were barely distinguishable from the DVDs. Superior compression maybe, didn't notice any artefacts at least. Detail though, nope.

I already have seasons 1 and 2, so I hope these come out separately as well. The only bonus to the Season 1 set was that this was the first time it had been made available in 16:9. The image quality is nothing to write home about.

The link for Season 3 looks exactly the same as it has for the past two odd years, I hope it gets updated with product info soon.

Are they going to print more of S1? Kinda hard to find, or rather, I don't really want to pay the ~£35 for it on Zavvi.

And even more wishful thinking: is there even the slightest chance that in the past 3 years they found better quality masters which they'll use for this set?

Highly unlikely, I imagine this will still be a cheap and cheerful upscale. The only positive about them is that they take up far less shelf space than the old Contender DVDs!

Bought a decent complete series DVD set in 2012 with English subs & of course English soundtrack (German release).
So if it's not a True HD transfer, I guess Im not interested.

That's how I feel about the Farscape releases. I love the show but the DVDs do the job well enough in this case.

If you weren't convinced by the Farscape upscales then you probably shouldn't bite on these either, as IMO, the Farscape BDs offer a better upscale.

I found Farscape upscales very good upgrade over DVD. They were also restored to native progressive film (23.976p). Some of S3 episodes even looked a little like real HD.

I've never seen Andromeda blu-rays, but as far as I've heard Andromeda S1-2 hasn't been properly restored, they just left it in telecined broadcast state (29.97i), and upscaled that, which resulted in worse jaggies than the nice SD versions in the 50-disc Widescreen DVD boxset. Also the Blu-ray versions are cut slightly differently, so one can't even sync the lossless audio to DVD versions...

Again, this is what I heard, but would love to see a sample .m2ts file of Andromeda Blu-ray to judge for myself to see if it's really worse than DVDs.

Definitely true of season one, I remember the judder. Season two though, from memory, was much better than the first set. Still an obvious upscale job, but an improvement over season one at least.

Sadly, my copies are in storage. Somewhere......

Do they definitely have lossless audio? as its been a few years since I owned season 1 but believe it was just Dolby Digital.
