What an unusual time.

4K at home.

2K in theaters. http://digitalcinema.bydeluxe.com/si...POOL_FINAL.pdf

If you were around in the mid-late 70s as Andre Blay and MCA started bringing movies home on video I have to imagine this sort of thing would blow your mind.

I want the 155 gb file instead of the UHD BD.

http://jonnyelwyn.co.uk/film-and-vid...-premiere-pro/

Deadpool was shot primarily with Arri Alexa, Open Gate (3.4K, 1.55:1 AR) and then the usual 2.39:1 extraction was made...

http://jonnyelwyn.co.uk/wp-content/u...onny-Elwyn.pdf

So the UHD BD should use the RAW files when possible (the Scope extraction of course)

Until I see some like primary source material, I'm extremely skeptical that this kind of reconstruction is happening for the sake of extremely niche home release when the effort wasn't put forth for a 4K DCP.

Movies are released on 4K DCP (such as Hail, Caesar) and theaters 2K or 4K can run them. I find this talk of "Guys, guys.... it can totally be 4K sorta they shot it with (such and such) and they can do (Herculean tasks)" and I'm like.... dude they sent this to theaters on 2K DCP I'm extremely ****in' skeptical they're gonna rebuild the movie for home UHD rather than do a straightforward upscale.

Actually they could already have used this reconstruction for the Dolby Vision theatrical release...

I tried my best, don't shoot me...

By the way, I do have doubts too about this, I have only been looking for information around the web...

Nah, nah it's just... I just think it makes a huge statement that they sent this movie to theaters in 2K (as far as is certifiably documented), but are going to be selling it on disc in 4K. And that they'd have a 4K finish but opt not to use it theatrically. I mean The Perfect Guy went out with a 4K DCP.

To me it's a statement on where the movie studios and cinema exhibitioners are (2K) and where the Consumer Electronics industry is (4K).

Of course it'll have a regular Blu-ray. Only once this format has really taken off(if that ever happens) will UHD only releases be offered.
