I agree 100%. In a Lonely Place, while depressing, has always been one of my favorite Noirs.

I didn't really care for The Player back when it came out but I had a real bug up my ass about Tim Robbins back then so it will be interesting too see how I respond to it this time around.

I'm definitely in for Easy Rider, In a Lonely Place, and Wim Wenders: The Road Trilogy.

I'll watch The Naked Island on Hulu before I consent. Regarding The Player, I watched it a year or two ago when I was going through an Altman kick and I was not a fan of it.

Really pleased to see the road trilogy coming sooner rather than later, not least because it gives me hope for more Wenders before the end of the year. In for In A Lonely Place too. Given their relationship it's nice to see Wenders and Ray both released in the same month; I wonder what the chances of Criterion putting Lightning Over Water out are? It would have made a nice supplement to In A Lonely Place.

I used to hate Easy Rider and other films of that era, but I found a new appreciation for them after studying the countercultural movement.

WOW!!!! Can't wait for The Player, one of my favorite Criterion Laser Discs....I remember pre-paying for that damn thing at Suncoast (remember those places), and it taking over a year to finally get released! I paid full retail at the time $124.95. Glad I waited for the CC to release it on Blu-Ray!

Well, with Easy Rider and The Naked Island being announced, that takes care of two of the clues from the New Year's drawing.

Nice month.

Already sold my dvd of In a Lonely Place based on that recent hint (and since it was OOP my upgrade will basically be free). So f yeah

Excited about the Player. My dad took me to see that in the theater--one of my first art house experiences. Never bought the existing blu-ray.

Road Trilogy...glad it's out, not sure if I will get it. Had Alice in the Cities and Wrong Move on VHS back in the day and not sure I need them on blu. Never did see Kings of the Road, though often regarded as best of the three. How about an individual release of that??

Naked Island...watch first, sounds good though.

Two "Hollywood" movies this month. Hail, Caesar someday?

Great month. I never bought the box set so I'm in for Easy Rider and I'm in for the upgrade of The Player. Haven't seen the Wenders movies in this trilogy yet but will definitely check them out.

I'm familiar with a wide variety of countercultural movements from throughout American history but... I just thought it was bad. I thought An American Hippie in Israel was better but I think that one's pretty bad too so, yeah. I would take Invasion Of Thunderbolt Pagoda, Woodstock, Chappaqua, and Zabriskie Point over a lot of the other hippie era films.
