Nice. This could be the main reason I rarely see you posts in the steelbook threads...

It's one of them for sure!

Another is just the number of steelbooks being released and the titles being chosen, I just couldn't keep up with it all and grew tired of it all honestly. I have some left, but most have been sold off to fund my latest obsession of 1/6 scale figures.

Unless something comes up (again), I'll be setting up my detolfs on Saturday, so I'll post some pics, crappy iphone camera pics, but pics none the less.

Yeah man, this is just so much more fun and involved, and then if you get into customizing and stuff like that, it becomes a true hobby in every way. It's been fun researching photos and stills from the films to see what poses I want to use when I set them all up too. My steelbooks just sat on a shelf, only the spines showing and I was the only person that knew how much time and money went into the collection. Everyone else would just see a blu-ray with fancy packaging. With Hot Toys, even my wife is amazed at how realistic and film accurate some of these are, and while very expensive, I can appreciate how much time and effort it takes to do the sculpting and manufacture them, they really are little works of art.

Quick question; wich 1/6 scale stands do you guys use? I don't want all of my Hot Toys to float in the air and I don't want them to fall over when I don't use the HT stand...

Don't know about anyone else, but I bought this one for my Batman figure. Hoping to one day get the actual DX-12 stand, but $80 on eBay is not an option right now. But because of his cape, it covers up the stand quite nicely. It looks like he's not being supported by anything.

Those are what I bought and will be using, going to print some custom base stickers here at work for them too. I found some on eBay for like $16 or $18 for five of them. I bought about 30 or so I think. I'm weird, I like a consistent look and using all of the different shaped Hoy Toys stands will bother me.

Looking forward to those photos.

The thing with HT and detolfs is that they require more space compared to steelbooks. I still collect HT figures but not as rampant compared to 2-3 years ago where I have 6-7 flex pays simultaneously.

I am also slowing down purchasing steelbooks. Just focusing on the Premium ones.

I'll be getting my second Detolf this weekend so I can finally put my Joker 2.0 up along with Bane and Batman. I'm still not quite sure where this unit will go. I wanted to put this one in the living room, but now there's a (rather awesome) L-shaped sectional couch that impedes where I would've put it that came with my new roomie.

I'm the opposite, I stay away from the premium steelbooks now and only pick up the cheaper ones, and only if I'm going to buy the film anyway. My days of buying crap films just because the packaging is nice or I feel like I need to keep a company's collection going are behind me.

Although, those $65-70 steelbook prices look like pocket change now that I'm addicted to buying $200+ figures.

That's what I've been doing for the past couple of months, even down to buying gray colored zip ties to match the wires and detolf metal frame.

I drilled the holes for the wires to run out of the bottoms last week. I also bought a three cube organizer/shelf thing from Walmart that's long enough for two detolfs and deep enough too, to raise them up off of the carpet about 17 inches. I have foam weatherstripping to put along the edges where the glass door closes, and I bought some black adhesive shelf paper that I'm thinking about using, but I'm not sure yet. I think it would help better for the lighting, keeping it contained more in each shelf. I guess I'll just have to try it and find out. Maybe I'll set one up with and one without that way I can see them side by side and decide which I like more.

If you want a super clean look Jez, I can't recommend the lighting kits from Shamez enough, they're perfect. The wires are the exact length they need to be, the light strips run nearly edge to edge on each shelf, and the wiring is even gray to match the detolf metal frame, so it blends in better. Here's the link to the FB page -

https://www.facebook.com/sahmezlightsndecals/?fref=ts

It was only $64 shipped to the US for a kit for two detolfs, and shipping to the UK from HK may be cheaper.

I envy you for having self-control. I am a sucker for packaging more so during the height of the slipcover days 4-5 years ago.

I slowed down my HT figure collection when I reached 30 figures and beginning to have problems storing the boxes. Now, I just buy the figures I really want.

Yeah, the boxes are the biggest issue really, and there's no way I could ever just throw them out like some do.

Once I made the decision to start buying some Hot Toys, it was easy to stop buying steelbooks and sell off the ones I did have. I've basically turned my steelbook/Plain Archive collection into my Hot Toys collection.

I will be creating a thread in the trading forums, but figured I would put a feeler on here beforehand:

I will soon be selling a brand-new 1/6th scale Hot Toys Alfred Pennyworth if anyone is interested please let me know. Thanks

I am considering doing the same with a 1/6th Scale Gamora (Guardians Of The Galaxy) and 1/6th Scale Iron Man Starboost. Both still in original packaging and only removed once for initial damage inspection.
