Ah, I see.

But still, why would that one be OOP either? I think they had the same release date.

It's discussed a page or two back, but basically Morgan Creek has an ownership stake in these titles and it looks like their deal with WB has expired.

The 2000 version is a Morgan Creek title in the US at least and their deal with Warner is over as the library has either been sold or is for sale.

However they just licensed THE CRUSH to Shout so it makes you wonder how long all of these titles will be out of circulation. Probably not long IMO.

Now it doesn't look nearly as bad as I thought it did (this change of heart was well before this OOP news) after a more recent viewing.
Ouch! I hadn't looked at prices on eBay for those. Last time I checked my .fr shopping cart True Romance was in the €15 range, and the Japanese True Romance set I got was a digi pack which was I think around $30-$40, and they often have standard amaray cased versions for $10-15. I guess the North American release is still a good deal for the money. Also that same version is in the Tarantino box set so if you are a fan and don't have the set yet, it is (or was) a good deal.

Funny that titles list below are still available new for $6-$10 from 3rd party sellers but the ones I listed above are going for big $.

Alps, The
Fighter Pilot: Operation Red Flag
Mystery of the Nile
Not sure what constitutes crazy prices but most of these seem pretty reasonable to me.

And thank you HD Goofnut for running this thread. It's much appreciated.

Kicking myself for not having bought this during the last Black Friday sale on Amazon. Though apparently that wouldn't have helped, as evidenced by:

amazon.ca has the gangsters collection for $31.57 shipped to the US. Says it'll be in stock 2/29. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Ah I see, thanks. I ordered one for $10 just now from Amazon.ca so I don't get screwed. I've been trying to catch up lately by buying these titles that are going OOP. Battles Without Honor the other day too before I miss out. Seems like a lot of BD's are going OOP lately.

Yep. Another Warner title I bought recently was Memphis Belle. I had put it off just like The Time Machine because it wouldn't drop to $10. I actually saw that one in the theater and it was awesome as an 11 year old boy.

Are you saying Memphis Belle is going oop, or just that it's a random WB title you held off buying?

I haven't heard anything about it going OOP. If you haven't bought it though I probably would do it soon just to be sure.

Based on what though? It's in stock everywhere I look. WB has hundreds or maybe thousands of titles in print at this moment, why is this one a risk?

I'm not saying it is. I am just saying it could be. You just never know.

Anybody know why the Lionsgate version of Sin City Unrated, 2 Disc Theatrical and Extended is more expensive than the Original Disney version on Amazon? Lionsgate is listed at no less than $42, and the Disney version is listed as low as $1.50.

Aren't they identical, besides being out of print?

They're not the same. The Disney and Miramax releases of Sin City are two BDs that include all three cuts. The Lionsgate release is a single disc that contains the theatrical cut only.

Check the data base Lionsgate released a 2disc with the same features as the Disney version. And I am holding a copy of it that I purchased from FYE. And there are two separate upc's and listings on Amazon. Both 2-disc sets are identical.

Okay then. I have the Lionsgate steelbook and it just had the theatrical disc. I added the 2nd disc to it though.

I actually thought they went under in the last couple of years since the only 2 stores I was aware of closed down in relative short order. But I came across one at a mall near someone I was visiting.

I actually hate browsing in there and always did because of all the used stuff mixed in with new (as well as the fact that they'll even sell bootlegs), but in cases where I'm looking for a random OOP title (nor near OOP title) I wish that store was in driving distance. Unfortunately it's like 75 minutes.
