Default Mad Dogs - An Amazon Original Series

A group of guys travel to Belize to see an old friend, when things take an unexpectedly dark turn. Stars Steve Zahn, Michael Imperioli, Romany Malco and Ben Chaplin.

Haven't seen a thread for this new show. Mad Dogs is a remake of the original a UK series. I'm half way through the first season and love it. Please check it out! Discuss

It won't be as good as the UK show. Nothing ever is.

Thanks for the insight I've never seen the UK version, so I have nothing to compare it to.

Binged watched the first season in UHD last weekend after seeing the Pilot episode a few months back. Loved it, it's fun and some great acting.

Just going of recent efforts like The Office, The Inbetweeners (brilliant show) and this one. Also the excellent Life On Mars. The American attempt (IMO) have been shockingly bad with the exception of the Office, which was entertaining but nowhere Ricky Gervais series.

Just finished the season. It was much funnier than I imagined and the actors had great chemistry. It was a little annoying watching these characters make stupid choices each week, but overall I enjoyed it. Hopefully it gets picked up for another season

Shawn Ryan just announced on Twitter that there won't be a second season :

Quote:
Shawn Ryan ‏@ShawnRyanTV 6m6 minutes ago
1) Wanted to report that a decision was made not to make any more episodes of Mad Dogs.

2) We were lucky to be one the best reviewed dramas on Amazon, if not the best. A lot of critics got what we were going for, so thanks.

3) Some Amazon employees told me that Mad Dogs, after only four weeks, already had better streaming stats than many other Amazon shows.

4) So, thanks to the viewers for finding, embracing and binging the show. It’s been a blast to read your joy and shock on Twitter.

5) That said, Mad Dogs was originally intended to be a closed 10 episode limited series.

6) Many critics pointed out that this wasn’t the kind of concept destined for an extended multi-season run, and that’s right.

7) But in order to get Season 1 made Amazon wanted to know that future seasons might be possible.

8) Cris Cole and I said we thought there could be but we should have that conversation on if and how after the season was over.

9) We had that conversation on Thursday with Roy Price and company. Cris and I laid out a story for Season 2 we believed in.

10) Ultimately, Amazon didn’t want to make that story and we didn’t want to make the kind of story they wanted us to make, so…

11) It made more sense to declare victory after ten episodes, which was our original plan all along anyway.

12) Mad Dogs is extremely important to Cris and I and we can’t do the show any other way than to follow Cris’ vision.

13) Ultimately, I think it’s better to leave it there, pure and unsullied, than to do a watered down version of the show.

14) I’m so proud of our 10 eps and how they turned out, despite the many obstacles in our way.
