well its pushing 140K miles, and I am having to replace parts left and right. I want to get something practically NEW that does not have to be fixed 6 times a year.

Why? Does it run well? In good shape? If so, drive it to at least 250K before you give it up! I just got done shopping for a 99-01 Honda/Toyota/Nissan for our 3rd/teenager car. It was tough finding one that was in good shape, <120K miles and wasn't priced ridiculously. You can drive that thing forever and have more $$ for blu-ray!

Plus, with the uncertainty of today's economy, it is probably best to hold-off major purchases unless you really need to. You can make a lot of repairs for what a new monthly car payment will cost you.

wow, that sucks. car should last you longer than that.

ive only had to make 1 repair in the past 4 years on my olds, other than just standard maintence. though i look like a total hobo driving it, cause the back is all caved in because i got rear ended by a direct tv truck and its ugly as sin to begin with.

Well it was my aunts car, and she drove it all over the place. Then she gave it to me for graduation adn I have drove it all over the place, and idk its just dying

Have replaced this year: radiator, Idle control valve, breaks, A/C, and a few other things that arent that major. Its just not worth it anymore.

all that would have made a nice down on a new car.

this guy at work offered to sell me his 03 avalanche for 12,500. im going this weekend to order an 09 accord coupe though, so i don't know what i should do, but im leaning towards the accord.

an avalanche is gonna be hella expensive to maintain.

We are going to sell it, and I am going to get some to make a down and she wants the rest. LOL but hell I am not complaining if I get a new car.

You do realize that with a new car comes atleast a 300-500dollar payment every month for a minimum of 3 years, along with atleast on the first year a 50% increase in insurance with a good 500% increase for excise tax for the first 3-4 years until it gets older.

Dont forget all of the hidden or not thought of expenses that comes along with a new car payment. It's not all smiles and no matter how much you have spent on your maximum fixing it up, you will be spending twice that amount for something new every month.

From your other post you said you are 20 years old with a crap job that does not pay you enough, why do you want to tie yourself down to a payment right now?

I mean I guess its not really a crap job, its 13 an hour. But I understand that if I do get a new car I will have little to no money to play with for quite some time, and thats the part I am still thinking on. But I would not be buying a totally brand new car off a dealship, I would get something used from carmax or something like that idk.
