HMV.com is selling both seasons for 36.99 GBP. http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProduct...;-1&sku=845053 With both in one shipment that will save on shipping. I have a ton of Qs:

Can you confirm if this is region free? Are there any special features in SD (PAL) that one would lose out on when importing to North America? Are the discs BD50s? Anyone know if the Canadian versions will be a different encode?

Strange as this is not a BBC series.

Actually it is, sort of. Showtime takes credit for it in the US, and the BBC takes credit for it in the UK. It is the same exact series, however.

The UK import is region free. There are special features in standard definition but to be honest I haven't even played them yet so I don't know if they are PAL or NTSC. The set consists of three maxed out BD-50s. Sony did a very good job encoding the Tudors so I can't imagine it getting any better.

Good news, thanks. I trust Sony's quality at this point, so I am going to pull the trigger on the UK set (besides, I'm in it for the PQ and AQ of the main feature, not the extras). If you do get a chance to check the SD content that would be appreciated. I see that some sites say the discs were "encoded for regions A/B/C"; this seems to imply that the extras should work as well.

I just tested my copy and the extras are all in NTSC so they play on a Region A player.

I'm especially interested in knowing what UNCUT is all about.
These were on Showtime, known for "no limits" I can't believe the network disapproved of anything.
