Am I now behind the times with HDR and UHD Blu? You betcha. But give it a month or so - until the actual players get, y'know, released over here* - and I can at least rectify the latter part of those gaps in my knowledge. Hell, when I get the Panny player I can then indulge my own sense of smug superiority over the people who don't own one, then I'll really be a true member of the UHD forum section!

* Sure, importing the US player is fine for those chronic updater types who've got a wodge burning a hole in their pockets and who simply MUST have it now, but I'm not jumping through those hoops just for a bloody Samsung. YMMV.
I bought a HDR set by mistake can I join you?

DVDMike@ these pictures are not mine, so dont ask me about details. But the person who shot that picture wrote, that SDR picture on this CX800 was actually very good and bright (not dimmed like picture suggest), but it only looks dimmed when you compare it to HDR HDTV directly.

This is the problem with trying to capture HDR content and display these through non HDR monitor displays. What you are seeing there is an indication of the difference but is in no means conclusive.

I can state now, when done right the best UHD BD will knock spots of an equivalent BD. Proving this with screen shots like the above is absolutely futile imho. But what do I know... I only have an HDR set, UHD BD Player and 19 Movies

Welcome, dvdmike. Coffee and doughnuts are by the side door. This is a safe space.
