At least it’s not as hurting as expectations for new investment in Blueline II for 50 GB discs (HD Blu-ray)…… http://www.singulus.cn/index.php?id=...5e389c8bbd37e6

It’s not a good thing if Sony does all the heavy lifting with Ultra HD Blu-ray replication, esp. given its tepid response (some would say outright flip-flop in stance) to the introduction of Ultra HD Blu-ray players early this year.

Indeed, but then they've never publicly backed the format to my knowledge so it's no surprise they're holding fire on the players. And that they're part of the UHD disc replication side of things is IMO more a legacy of their existing replication business than anything, they're doing it almost out of duty rather than a sense of really wanting the format to succeed. As you say, having just one outfit doing it won't be good in the long term, a closed market is never ideal for consumers.

You stumped me. I can’t think of a quick spatial rez or HDR segue into pottery.
Seriously folks, for those unaware, if things continue for several more matches as is, there is literally sports history (for Americans. think even more rare than the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series) being made now in England. So much so that Hollywood studios have come a calling with actors like Leonardo DiCaprio being considered for the lead role.

Given the inherent nature of the topic which would, without doubt, consist of stadium and pitch shots, this motion picture, if it came to fruition, would be an excellent candidate for 4K (or greater) acquisition and finishing.

Wouldn’t some folks like to hear a little about the research and experimentation as to why the assertion (p.37) ^ of 1500 nits (rather than 1000 nits) is preferred by some research labs as a target (goal) for future HDR television sets? (believe me, the extra 500 nits for speculars won’t sear viewers’ retinas, like some video bloggers with a sophomoric sense of vision science would have you believe and, for the life of them, wouldn’t know the difference between Fuchs and fubar).

Well anyway, if so interested in discussing it with leaders and experienced doers (having performed more than one HDR production), then come by booth SU17010 next month at NAB 2016 for informed discussion.

Please again, I implore you lurkers and silent readers, go elsewhere, nothing to see here in this thread, don’t overheat our servers as I fear one of our main fixers, see sig -> (https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=31882) is running out of ice in order to keep them cool. This potential nightmarish image comes to mind…

Please don’t crash this fine forum by over exuberant viewing of this thread. What do we have to do in order to slow down the viewership rate here, cripple this forum with pumping out a plethora of ads like other websites do?....not to mention causing one’s anti-virus software protecting against malware, spam and such go wild each time you visit some of those other outside audio video resources.

But will it be shot in HFR?

You are right. The lush greens, the multi coloured strips. Red and white stripes! 4K heaven.

Creating an SDR grade (using the original HDR graded garagexit clip as reference), for an international standards development group.
On the left is a Dolby Pulsar, on the right a PRM 4200 (albeit, in this case, for the regrade, in the standard 100 nit mode), in the foreground is a Resolve color corrector…..

On the contrary, the pic makes the SDR grade look better, whereas in reality, if you were physically present in the grading suite you would easily appreciate the superiority of the HDR grade on the left. camera phones
