In the first video they say the player has a button on the remote called "Playback info" and when you press it you get info about the discs including bitrate.(I know a little German..)

They mess about a bit and they say that the TV (DX900) hasn't been calibrated and frame interpolation is on…

Yes. My current Panasonic player does the same thing, it's quite handy because it says what the source format is (codec, resolution, frame rate etc) and what the output format is, a lot of player info screens only say what the output format is (if at all).

Doubt we'll see DV support with this player, I was under the impression that requires different hardware that is not available yet. Would love to be wrong though.
On that note, from some inside sources I've been told the reason we haven't seen any DV titles on UHD Blu is because the authoring software tools are not finalized yet. No conspiracies. |

Due to the increased data demands for Dolby Vision 12 bit I would assume the studios need ready access to BD-100 media as well. They have to keep the bitrates up to compensate for all the extra video information or a whole new slew of artifacts can become visible.

It probably won't happen until fourth quarter products. Dolby Vision displays that are capable of 12 bit, extra Nits, and even wider color reproduction will probably cost a premium. |

And the choice of displays being used is a head scratcher. A projector that cannot, by its very nature, reproduce HDR levels allowed in the UHD Blu-ray spec... an LCD display that isn't 10 bit or HDR capable at all... it's as if these guys don't understand the very tech they're supposed to review. I'll have to wait for something like Secrets to do a full bench analysis before I make the leap. Last edited by FilmFreakosaurus; 03-15-2016 at 07:51 PM. |

everything says this projector is HDR capable. it doesnt take much to be able to take advantage of HDR metadata. |

WhatHiFi is fluff. Not my go to for player tech reviews. Any one can get a player and say "wow it looks good and it is fast". I care about output accuracy and bench testing. AV Forums, Secrets and HDTV Test are better here.

And then in comparison they use a "regular" display that doesn't have a 10 bit panel or HDR. As was said above... What Hifi is fluff. |
