I watched XMen tonight and I thought it was a very nice step up from BD. I watched the BD for some scenes to compare and the 4K is just better at detail, color and contrast. Blacks were darker and honestly, the blu Ray just looked faded by comparison. Colors were more robust and vivid, the scene between the two Xaviers speaking to each other has much more realism to it, depth is also more apparent as well. It beat Scorch Trials for me, and this transfer gets a 5/5 as I could not find anything wrong with it. Highly recommended!

Suppose I can give my overall impressions on what I have seen so far. I tend to favour detail and clarity over hdr and colour etc. but those usually follow a clean transfer.
1) The Martian (the clarity on those 5k shots is impressive, wish there wasnt as much grain on inside shots though...) 2) Chappie (while not as sharp as expected for a 4k finish it looks pretty damn good at times, has some nice bright colours too) 2) Scorch Trials (despite people not liking the quality I think it looks really good overall. Sure its not as crisp as some parts of martian or Chappie but its has a lot of detail and really great colours. It probably has the least amount of noise/ grain on this list. Tied for 2) 3) San Andreas (mixed about this, it has some nice looking quality a bit into the movie but some shots aren't as detailed as Id expect. Inconsistent but quite nice at times) 4) Mad Max (It looks pretty good overall but its at #5 because it isn't that much of a step up in resolution, probably because, even if its just 2k, the source was just 2.8k. I may watch again and re-grade. Also the controversy about the colours not being "accurate" ![]() 5) Salt ( I bought this weeks ago thinking it would be super sharp and full of detail as its on film and finished in 4k. I was disappointed. Yes it looks better than the blu ray, but most of the time not by much. To me it seems like a rush job, but Im no expert ![]() I bought enders game and sicario today ( just came out in Canada) and if going by other impressions one of them might take 1 or 2. List will be updated to top 7 |

Latest watching.. Wild
Seen before on BD & yes there are many notable improvements even in SDR. FOX is just nailing it with their UHD releases.. I'm very impressed with the quality of their catalog so far. ![]() |

Lossless is lossless, but it isn't immersive. Immersive > 7.1.

Made a few changes to my OP.
Life of Pi and Exodus, for upscales, look absolutely stunning. Can see more detail in brighter and darker parts of the image without any clipping, and colors are improved without being oversaturated, as well. To me the UHD looks better than both standard BD and 3D (Life of Pi in particular) and they also look better than the HDR demo trailers. The HDR trailers for Pi and Exodus looked a bit too bright for me, the UHDs aren't and look flawless, imo. |

![]() I only have 1 unwatched now being Lego & I have yet to receive Life of Pi. Expendables 3 looked a lot better then I expected even though it doesn't quite show on my https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...8&postcount=27 List. |

Folks, thanks for these rankings. It seems like your experiences have been very good and your opinions of the films are more positive than the reviews being done by the site. Can't wait to add my two cents once I complete my investment.
Thanks again. |

I just bought The Life of Pi which brings my 4K Blu-ray total to nine :
Of the 9 I own: 1. Sicario 2. The Martian 3. Mad Max: Fury Road 4. Life of Pi 5. The Peanuts Movie 6. X-Men: Days of Future Past 7. Kingsman The Secret Service 8. Salt 9. San Andreas I own Life of Pi on Blu-ray as well. Even without the benefit of an HDR equipped TV, the video quality on the UHD disc is much better than the already stellar blu-ray. |
