A rather superficial review from Stuff:
http://www.stuff.tv/panasonic/dmp-ub900/review it'd be nice for What Hifi to properly review the Analogue outputs |

3D will be a long way off, there are no films that actually have been filmed/finished in 4K. They don't exist, all the 3D films have been 2K. So it's pointless having UHD3D. Maybe Cameron will break the mould when he starts filming Avatar 2? But even then that's a long way away.

It's interesting how similar this player is to Panasonic's first Blu-ray deck, the DMP-BD10, in appearance, layout, construction, price, and emphasis on A/V performance. Gotta wonder if their follow-up 4K model to this one will be streamlined like their follow-up to the BD10 (the BD30).

Personally, I sell my UV codes so when it comes to something like DB I really couldn't care less about not having it on the first-gen tech. I'm buying a 4K Blu-ray player so I can play 4K Blu-rays first and foremost, everything else (including all that internet app shit) is secondary. The panny or the players in general? The Samsung is still apparently up for £429, I've pre-ordered the Panny for £549 so getting all those extra sockets and set-up features (adjustable SDR conversion ![]() |

Well, I know I moan all the time about how brassic I am but when we're talking about 400 notes for some barebones Samsung or 550 for a nicely specified Panasonic then it's just not that big of a difference to me. Besides, I think Sony's eventual player will be more in line with the Samsung feature set than the Panasonic, and you really would have to be made of money to get the Oppo UHD deck. If that comes in at under a grand I will be ****ing amazed. Pioneer's will probably be nearer the top end of that price scale too, but will they really be worth another 300 or 400 on top? Hmmm.

Sure, the PS4K may well come in at the £400 mark and it'll probably be "better" than the first-gen Sammy if not the Panasonic (it'll "do more" for sho' but I've said I don't give a monkeys about all that stuff) but I can see them leaving off the second HDMI output so that would make it a no-no for me.

![]() Not long now though Geoff, I cannot wait for this player. Having owned the Samsung for 5 days, this is something I cannot wait to see. |
