In my defense I have to say when I put Panasonic DMP-UB900 in the search field, it shows the DMP-BDT700 page.

Default Stuff Review

A rather superficial review from Stuff:

http://www.stuff.tv/panasonic/dmp-ub900/review

it'd be nice for What Hifi to properly review the Analogue outputs

If and when they get round to digital bridge these early players will look like over priced antiques. I wonder when we will hear more about DB and 3D.

3D will be a long way off, there are no films that actually have been filmed/finished in 4K. They don't exist, all the 3D films have been 2K. So it's pointless having UHD3D. Maybe Cameron will break the mould when he starts filming Avatar 2? But even then that's a long way away.

It's interesting how similar this player is to Panasonic's first Blu-ray deck, the DMP-BD10, in appearance, layout, construction, price, and emphasis on A/V performance. Gotta wonder if their follow-up 4K model to this one will be streamlined like their follow-up to the BD10 (the BD30).

Eh. The earliest models of pretty much anything end up looking like over priced antiques. But apart from Dolby Vision and the Digital Bridge (which are proper features at least, and not pie-in-the-sky stuff like 4K 3D) I just can't see what else future players will actually bring to the table because these launch machines are NOT the clunky-assed steam driven BD players of old; even for regular BD performance people have noted how quickly the Samsung loads discs, so it's no slouch.

Personally, I sell my UV codes so when it comes to something like DB I really couldn't care less about not having it on the first-gen tech. I'm buying a 4K Blu-ray player so I can play 4K Blu-rays first and foremost, everything else (including all that internet app shit) is secondary.

The panny or the players in general? The Samsung is still apparently up for £429, I've pre-ordered the Panny for £549 so getting all those extra sockets and set-up features (adjustable SDR conversion ) and 2 movies for £120 more is a no brainer to me. Considering how the format really is just an evolution rather than a revolution of the BD tech then yeah, they ARE overpriced in general but I've made my peace with it.

The Panasonic in general, I wanted a high end BD player at some point but this is to experimental to be this price

Well, I know I moan all the time about how brassic I am but when we're talking about 400 notes for some barebones Samsung or 550 for a nicely specified Panasonic then it's just not that big of a difference to me. Besides, I think Sony's eventual player will be more in line with the Samsung feature set than the Panasonic, and you really would have to be made of money to get the Oppo UHD deck. If that comes in at under a grand I will be ****ing amazed. Pioneer's will probably be nearer the top end of that price scale too, but will they really be worth another 300 or 400 on top? Hmmm.

Sure, the PS4K may well come in at the £400 mark and it'll probably be "better" than the first-gen Sammy if not the Panasonic (it'll "do more" for sho' but I've said I don't give a monkeys about all that stuff) but I can see them leaving off the second HDMI output so that would make it a no-no for me.

How on earth do you find time to play them all Mike I struggle to put effort in to play my gaming pc but then again my (just turned) 13 year old son more than plays enough for the both of us.

Not long now though Geoff, I cannot wait for this player. Having owned the Samsung for 5 days, this is something I cannot wait to see.

Blimey, it's no wonder the Panasonic's too expensive if you buy three of everything!

PS4K Price is currently $399.99 they were discussing a better CPU which would raise the price to $499.99 we were guaranteed the price will be no higher than $499.99.
