I will say that batcave scene was totally unexpected and I literally sat forward in my seat.

I really look forward to rewatching this with expectations in check. Probably on Monday.

That sounds about right. The movie BvS is performing most like is the last Harry Potter film.

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/...rypotter72.htm

Built in audience, highly anticipated, opened big, dropped like a rock. And those are the only two movies to ever have opening days of $80 million or greater that didn't clear $200 million opening weekend.

So apparently the photographer that Lois travels to Africa with at the very beginning (
[Show spoiler]and who meets an unfortunate end
) is Jimmy Olsen??? lol I definitely didn't pick up on that...

What pissed me off most was I actually saw a lot of potential in it throughout the film, they had the right ideas to make it work but failed to execute them. I think mainly due to time and cramming they couldn't explore good plot lines correctly so everything came off as half arsed and didn't really draw you in as it should have.

If they had took their time and established a plot over several films then they could and I think would have pulled this off and also made a shit load of money from the subsequent films they didn't do. This really needed to have another Superman film and stand alone Batman, build up all the plot devises for the square off in them, have the films interlock at parts to nail down the conflict to be. Tease Justice League through them and this would have been a lot smoother.

Instead they basically tried to:
[Show spoiler]
Establish Batmans new screen character
Establish Lex's new screen character
Introduce Wonder Woman
Introduce Justice League
Create, tell a story and end Doomsday
Tell a story of two heroes that collide due to different methods and mindset
Tell a story about why Lex hates Superman and use the Bat to divide and conquer
Tell a story depicting Supermans relationship with Mankind and how they are effected by his presence
Tell a love story between Louis and Superman
Continue a story of Bruce Waynes abandonment issues and paranoia
Tease Darkseid.

Its way too much for one film.

I don't think Superman has been doing his thing long enough to have established a pattern of often saving Lois.
[Show spoiler]I think he knows Clark is Superman, and therefore of Supes relationship with Lois, using it to draw out Supes early, just as he does later on the roof. The party where Lex interacts with Bruce and Clark also suggests knowing both identities. Loved his line in particular to Bruce that they should collaborate on something, specifically mentioning (I think) his R&D division - which of course is currently engaged in kryptonite research which he knows is of interest to Bruce.

We have already hit $500 million in box office and counting:

It's steamrolling in China. Batman v Superman is basically guaranteed to now surpass $1 billion and repeat business will determine its final tally.
Where did you see that it's steamrolling in China?

I dont care how much a movie does in the BO but it would be funny to see it passing Star Wars just to see people losing their minds

Yeah. I don't put much stock in box office numbers, either. And I guess different strokes for different folks, but even movies I absolutely loved I've never gone to the theater to watch more than twice. Too many other movies to see for that.

I always found it weird that Metropolis was in DE. I guess Superman enjoys the beaches and taxfree shopping.

Its way too much for one film.
My brother called me yesterday to tell me about the clip they released online featuring
[Show spoiler]Lex and the mother boxes
.

I had this long conversation with him about the same thing. While I did enjoy this movie, and probably will more so with more viewings, it had issues and everyone has their own nitpicks about it but everything you just said, in one movie, was too much.

What they should've done is after Man of Steel, did a Batman stand alone movie so we get introduced to that character. Then, you could do a Batman v Superman movie, but no Dawn of Justice. That whole movie could've been about the differences they have with each other. Back and forth between Clark and Bruce and then Superman and Batman would've been great. You could've introduced Lex as well but just slowly building up and telling us why he hates both of these guys, to create that motive.

After that, you could've done one more movie title Dawn of Justice, where you start introducing us to the other meta humans that exist. That way, when you get to the next movie after that, Justice League, we're invested more into the characters and they make us really want to like them. The Justice League movie could've been about them just working together and then the threat of Darkseid rears it's ugly head.

Part 2 of Justice League would've explored how they will take Darkseid down and lots of action and fight scenes. The idea in my head seems cool enough. So again, my movie slate would've been like this:

Man of Steel
The Dark Knight Returns
Batman v Superman
Dawn of Justice
Justice League Part 1
Justice League Part 2

And then you can kick off solo movies of the heroes and venture into more Suicide Squad movies or spinoffs with certain characters that make it out of that movie.

Boxoffice.com is predicting a $55 million 2nd weekend, which would be almost a colossal 67% drop. They estimate a 10 day total of $264 million.

Deadline reported this needs to make about $900 million worldwide just to break even for WB. It looks like it might follow a similar pattern to Spider-man 3. I don't see it reaching $350 million in the US.

sure would be nice if Snyder could get a movie right the first time instead of having to retool it after the critics rip it to shreds.

I believe Metropolis was supposed to be Cleveland in the beginning since the two guys are from there and created Superman there but they thought for national popularity interest it would be more appealing to make it "New York" east coast style. I was just at Hopkins airport in Cleveland last night and there's a very cool Superman display down in baggage claim with all the history and a life size statue. Dude's huge!

Not on Snyder if the studio made him cut it down to a certain length so they could squeeze in a couple extra showtimes per screen per day. Again, the theatrical cut's major faults are the editing and the screenplay, both of which can easily be redeemed by a longer cut.

"What the hell???? Superman is supposed to deal with supervillains and catastrophes... why he's dealing with a suicidal girl?"

"He spent the whole day waiting for the girl to talk with him again..... in the while, millions of people died elsewhere in the world.... he's wasting his time for one person who wants to die"

"Superman's words are so cliché... is this Reeve all over again?"

LOOK GUYS, this is a no win situation for Snyder.
