Sorry to hear. The thing about Zavvi's packaging is that it's a compromise that plays the odds on items getting damaged -- it balances the money saved by stopping short of packaging that will guarantee no damage, and bets that against the costs incurred by items that do get damaged and people feel strongly enough about to act on. Even then, as many people have noted here, Zavvi's first response is always to offer to throw a little bit of coin your way if you do raise an issue, and leave you with the damaged item.

It's a bit nail-biting for customers like me who live on the other side of the planet, meaning the packages have a whole heckuvalot more handling to get through safely. Most of mine have turned up fine, but I've had a couple where the front of the steelbook was stoved in with the same pattern of dent as a boot heel stomped on an empty cardboard box would make. I'd swear they were trodden on. To Zavvi's credit, they were replaced with no drama.

The worst, I think, is where the damage is enough to spoil the package in your eyes, but not really bad enough to justify a replacement. That's always disappointing.

Has anyone else experienced longer-than-usual shipping time for their orders recently? My last two orders orders have taken 33 and 35 days after receiving the "order despatched" e-mail before reaching me.

Not really.
Almost all of my orders arrive within 7-14 days (regular days, not working days).
The last time it took so long was one order, that I made end of december last year. That one took over 42 (!) days, but still arrived lol

And in the last months I ordered like crazy. 49 items in total since end of december.

I placed my last order on April 1st and got it today. Much faster than I was expecting.

In my recent order, 4 movies shipped on the same day. 3 of them showed up in the usual 7-14 days, the last one took 28 days before arriving.

I own several of those:

A History of Violence is not playable on my Region A PS3
Butterfly Effect is Region B locked
The Road is Region B locked, but some players may play it using the Top Menu button method

I don't own:
The Voices, but it seems to be region free

No idea about Requiem for a Dream, seems to be region B locked, can't confirm

They're not kidding. I got a similar e.mail just recently and tried to use it the same day, and *everything* I tried to apply it to bombed out, from pre-orders to long-available titles to titles included in specials like "3 for £20". It wouldn't stick to anything.

I e.mailed Zavvi to ask what I could use it for, and just got a generic reply saying that sometimes offers had "limitations" and that it had "probably expired". No attempt to help, and no "use this instead" or whatever. You can't even have a conversation with them, because every reply has to go through the website form and is treated like a new issue. (Not that they actually track issues.)

I came to the conclusion it wasn't a genuine offer, just clickbait to get me to open the site again. Effin useless, Zavvi. Scummy thing to do, I reckon, to make a "loyalty" offer that doesn't even work.

Coupons are normally not valid for preorders. And for certain other items it's also not valid. But when I try it on Ghostbusters Steelbook, it works.

That's a bummer! Barring a few sales, the bulk of my Zavvi purchases are preorders. Not a big deal.
