Is it just me or is it odd that we haven't heard anything about this years mid-year Disney animation release-burst yet??

When do we usually hear about this?

Last year's August wave was announced Friday, May 9th 2014. If they do release another batch this August like the last couple of years we should know in about a month. Fingers crossed!!

I don't know, but if things have been quiet lately, I think I have a good feeling they're planning something.

We've just had the announcement for Aladdin's release!!
Do the mid-year titles often get announced soon after?? I have a HORRIBLE memory!

Okay! I just did some digging myself - seems that last year's October Diamond Edition of Sleeping Beauty was officially detailed on Friday May 9th as well!!

So, perhaps by week's end we'll see an announcement of the mid-year film wave as well as details on the Aladdin release... Surely they'll be doing a mid-year wave this year

So I was perusing through textless Disney poster art and stumbled across Eric Heintz's website. Heintz is an illustrator for many Disney covers. While poking around, I found this:

Just thought it was worth noting that the infamous Disney Wiki claims that this collection will get a release on December 8 of this year.

However, just as the post above, take this with a grain of salt and don't get too excited, for although the Disney Wiki has been right a few times, they are also know for posting fake release dates. If the Saludos Amigos/The Three Caballeros is taken off of this list sometime in the future, you will know it was a hoax.

Unfortunately no updates on this since we discovered the commissioned cover art.

Turned out that the "cast member" who claimed the blu-ray set was coming really had no insider information on it and was only speaking based on the discovery of the cover-art... After we all mistakenly took his post as some kind of insider fact, he apologized for misleading us all and removed the post.

Hopefully it makes an appearance this year... But, don't hold your breath.

Probably not. Don't take anything anyone writes on the Disney wiki as gospel unless it's been made official.

This was the same site that predicted this release for June 2015. Then August 2015. Then September 2015. Then November 2015 as an "uncut" DMC Exclusive

I get email notifications every time someone updates the page - every month or two some random pops on there and changes the date - at one point one guy kept changing the page and a moderator would keep changing it back. Eventually the moderator absolutely blasted the guy.
It's pretty good entertainment.

As the Animated Thread mentioned that cover is fan made and the Header says Digital Copy which Disney's haven't used that terminology since the end of 2013 a bit after they changed from XML discs to DC+ code. Since Jan 2014 they use the term DigitalHD on cover art

I guess if they keep moving the dates back long enough they might be right sometime.
Hey if they are right we'll have 5 releases going into the vault by the end of the month with no advance notice at all

It's fan made in the sense that the blu-Ray border around the artwork has been photoshopped on by a fan.

But it should be noted that the actual artwork itself is from the website of the guy who Disney commissions to do a lot of their covers.
