160GB Uncharted: Drake's Fortune PS3 Bundle - Blu-ray Forum

I read that the Playstation 3 160 GB is going to be coming out in october 31 here in the UK and then in November for America but I cant see anything on amazon or other sites, went into the local GAME store and they said it wont be out till next year.....

do you guys know when it will be?? i've been holding off buying one as I might as well get the 160GB.

I also read that they are making ones with a smaller chip.. have they gave a release for that? as I keep reading here that the fan noise is a pain and these new ones will help that.

It'll be 65nm tech. That's the same that they use for the current 80gig unit. It should be fairly quiet. Mine's an old Motorstorm Bundle 80gig (90nm tech), it is pretty quiet. The fan only gets loud when I do Folding or for some reason just start watching Planet Earth.

Edit: Er, I guess I misread that. I thought you were referring to the 160gig unit when you were talking about a smaller chip.

As xtop says, they'll be releasing a ps3 with 40nm chips in Q1 2009.

The 80Gb "standard" is still at $399, while this 160Gb version + Uncharted will go for $499.

If you mean the 80Gb (with BC) MGS4 pack, then I believe this will indeed be discontinued, but who knows ? I thought it had already been discontinued and it showed up again on Amazon this week
