I'm probably one of the minorities who loves the JJ Trek universe, but I also adore the Shatnerverse and Picardverse so I'm happy to be going back to that familiar time. Personally, I would have loved to see an Excelsior show with Mr Takei but I fear we may be too late now. I'm sure it's gonna be great though being guided by those top names. I'm just wondering how the show would be transmitted overseas though. I guess in the U.K. it would probably be picked up by Netflix or Sky.

I have nothing against the JJA movies either, but they're a definite case of diminishing returns. The first movie I really enjoyed. The second was ok. The new one, only seen the trailer obviously but it really does nothing for me. On that basis, very pleased that we're heading back to familiar territory.

Really like the 'anthology' slant as well

Yeh or possibly Amazon with an outside chance of channel 5 (since they surprisingly got the x-files)

Not the biggest fan of this idea but alot better then set in the new JJ universe.I still real want a series set after Star Trek:Nemesis on the Enterprise E or possible a newly created F with Geordi La Forge and Wolf both brought back as Captain and Number #1 leading a new crew. Then you could bring characters threw out Star Trek history and that the show and more so the brand of Star Trek into a new and fresh era.

The "JJ Ruined trek" club is just a small but very vocal group of Internet fanbois. Given that they are the most wildly successful Trek films of all time, I think the public is just great with them.

That said, I agree - I really enjoyed the first two, but the third looks like absolute trash to me. But I'm not happy about this development with the series - I thought we'd finally progress the Trek timeline, not head back to the past, again...

I saw Abrams' first film once, and that was enough. I skipped Into Darkness after hearing it was basically a Wrath of Khan retread; never cared for that movie either. Its very likely I'll be skipping Star Trek: Beyond, but I'm waiting for a trailer to inform me on this new show. I still wish it were on TV though, even syndication like most of the sequel series.

So I finished VOY. What should I tackle next: Enterprise or DS9?

If you really liked it, I'd say ENT. If you didn't, I'd say DS9.

I loved it. I think they could have squeezed one more episode in there at the end showing us what happened when they finally landed on Earth.

DS9 to me was the best Trek. Had dramatic episodes, funny episodes, thriller episodes and touching episodes. Also helps that I loved pretty much the entire cast, Klingons will always be my favourite species and I found the main evil race quite compelling. I did like ENT more than most, probably need to see it again soon. Biggest down time to working so much, it keeps making me push back watching stuff I want to see.

I hope this is set in the NG era ( or close to it...) since I would love to see a modern take on the tech and design from that period.
Also updated Borgs would kick ass!
I wonder if they will update LCARS.

Hmm see I grew up with TNG so for me that is the best. I do really like DS9. At first I hated it, I mean hated it. But after watching it it really grew on me. I would rank them.

TNG, TOS, DS9/ENT, and then VOY. Just could never get into VOY. I would rank that worst of all the ST shows for me.

That is because they are films for people that never liked Star Trek to begin with. Then all of a sudden ST is cool. Nothing like talking to people that have only seen the JJ films and pretend they love Trek. When you ask them stuff about anything they have that deer in the headlight look.
A lot of Trek fans that grew up with Trek really don't like the JJ films.

And no there is a more then just a small group of people that don't like them. I for one thought they were ok. Agree the first one is decent and an interesting revision. But it is just that a revision, non canon. The second was a joke. We all know JJ got the call from Disney and was like I'm out gotta do Star Wars so umm just rehash Khan lol.

For me, TNG will always be "home" when it comes to ST. I too started off hating DS9 but am now on the 6th Season and both the show and cast have grown on me very much. It's a show that if you stick with it really pays off.

While I love TOS, in my mind it's in its own category and I never compare it to the newer Trek series. VOY is the only one I've never watched. ENT I only liked the first few seasons.

I have the new JJ Sar Treks on Blu but have never watched them. I honestly didn't think I ever would but from there to here I've become a fan of Simon Pegg and so will probably watch them just because of that.

I grew up on The Next Generation, and saw some of Deep Space Nine, but didn't care for it overall. Voyager was really good, for the most part...but I couldn't stand Enterprise. It was far too advanced for a prequel series, and so many of the characters seemed like cheap ripoffs compared to previous efforts. I did like Scott Bakula as Captain Archer, and the eugenics storyline with Brent Spiner wasn't too bad...but I skipped the rest of it. I avoided Abrams' first effort for a long time, only watching it when a friend guilt-tripped me...and it just didn't work. I had real trouble seeing Spock as more emotional, with Kirk the shameless playboy. Then again, I was never a rabid Original Series fan to begin with; some of the films were really good, though. I'm hoping this new show leans more toward the style and tone of TNG.

That would have been a pretty amazing trick considering production on STID was wrapped when Disney bought Lucasfilm in Oct 2012. But don't let those facts ruin your conspiracy for ya.
