The same can be said of SACD and DVD-A discs. Quite a few of the Multichannel SACD recordings have been mixed better whereas the DVD-A discs I have sound unnatural. It's pretty much in how the sound was mixed. |

Which brings up another one of those random things I can't shake. I HAVE to have overlap between my sub and speakers. To me it makes for a much more fluid/seamless transition of sound. (sub at 80Hz, fronts won't be crossed higher than 60Hz). Anyone else have these odd proclivities? As for the floors, they initially caused some serious fatiguing when listening to music at high volume levels. I found by laying a rug down a good bit of that gets soaked up leaving a nice level pleasing sound. As I said in a previous post, the speakers continue to not be as bright as they break-in, and I'm finding that I don't need to bring in a rug anymore. I mostly watch movies on my setup, but love blasting music when doing housework though. I just got the Vivaldi blu and it is absolutely gorgeous! ![]() ![]() |

I've had my Klipsch F-2's, S1's, C1's & sub10 for about a month and a half now. I had been looking at an SVS set forever, but decided I wanted towers so I went with the Klipsch's.
I bought them at Circuit City because they had a pretty decent special on them, and the upgrade bug had been nagging me for so long..... and the money was just sitting in savings while I debated with myself about what to get..... so dammit I went one Sat afternoon and bought them. The display models sounded AWFUL in their listening room as he blared some ancient war scene as loud as it would go... but I really wasn't expecting to hear their true potential anyway in a Circuit City listening room of course. I got them home and set them up and I did not like them. Yes... they were 50 times better than what I was used to..... but they didn't have the sound I'd been imagining in my head all those months. They were harsh and fatiguing at high volumes, and I was even more dissappointed with how music sounded. I got to say that after learning how to set my speaker levels on my receiver, and play with the positioning, and most importantly just letting the speakers have time to age and mellow a bit..... I'm really falling in love with them! ![]() |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colors_...1.2Ff.29_noise
thats the scientific explanation... basically its wider-band white noise (my understanding anyways... who cares what it is, i know what i use it for lol) |

For those of you that know nothing about the heritage line, but would like to try it, Vanns has an amazing deal through Amazon - Heresy III's at 1000.00 a pair http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-Heresy...3988254&sr=1-1. (Although I prefer the Original Heresy - they go deeper - the new ones however are more sensitive - 98db). The bass shouldn't matter because you guys usually crossover at 80hz anyway.

White noise has the same distribution of power for all frequencies, so there is the same amount of power between 0 and 500Hz, 500Hz and 1,000Hz or 20,000Hz and 20,500Hz.
Pink noise has the same distribution of power for each octave, so the power between 0.5Hz and 1Hz is the same as between 5,000Hz and 10,000Hz. In case, you don't know what an Octave is, assume one note has a frequency of 200Hz, the note an octave above it is at 400Hz, and the note an octave below is at 100Hz. The ratio of frequencies of two octaves is 2:1. Another examlple: 50Hz is one octave below 100Hz, and 400Hz is two octaves above 100Hz. |
