As was the case with Texas Chainsaw, I'm sticking with the previous edition already loaded with tons of extras and a decent enough transfer. I know with TCM you had the 4K upgrade but for the odd occasion I watch it I'm not bothered with missing out. Same for Child's Play, it's a fun film to revisit but not that high in my favorite movie list.

For those who don't own it yet, I do recommend getting this upcoming edition. It's the best killer doll movie and buries recent made on the cheap turds like Annabelle and The Boy.

If Scream does a loaded SE of Child's Play 2, I would buy that, but I'm more than happy with the current SE of the first film.

BASED.

If they could get all the deleted scenes and footage and maybe an interview with Ed Gale.

Got the boxset, finally sold my "Chucky's Birthday" dvd, threw out my hd2dvd custom and don't intend to ever buy this again. I think only some newly dug up missing footage and an insanely great transfer could make me want it. New comm. don't do it for me anymore. There was a time when I had time to listen to comms. Now I'm happy to find time to watch a movie at all!

Add me to the list of those who want Scream to do stuff not already out in decent to perfectly fine presentations. Seems they're doing lots of new versions and not many debuts for BD of late.

The only way this makes sense is if Shout! Is working on 2 and 3 as well, and hopefully, getting a new scan for Bride of Chucky, which desperately needs one. I will say that it would be difficult for Scream Factory to release 2 and 3, but not release the original film, and then, if they've gotten 2 or 3 from Universal, there's no reason not to include Bride IF a new scan has been done.

So, here are the likely scenarios, in my opinion:

1. Scream releases 1-4, with new extras, AND a new scan for Bride (this is what I am most likely to buy)

2. Scream releases 1-3, with new extras and/or new scans (but the scans for these are, generally, fine)

3. Scream is releasing a largely unnecessary SE of Child's Play only (which would necessitate absolutely fabulous extras)

If Scream were to release parts 1 - 4, they might as well grab Seed and Curse and just make a new box set, or at least release parts 1 - 5 individually. I couldn't see having individual releases of parts 1 - 4 and the Universal release of Curse, but leaving Seed to be only available in a box set.

EDIT 2: I'm surprised MGM would allow the OK for this, this film is one of their big titles.
They had no problem licensing it to Universal for the Chucky Collection set.

Technically SF didn't officially announce this one yet, they might announce it with CP 2 and 3.

Regarding Seed of Chucky, touché. I had initially thought that Seed had numerous BD releases, (it did get an HD DVD, obviously), but apparently not. So, there's something there, particularly as that one more or less completes the Tiffany story.

Though I'd differ on Curse of Chucky, generally because there is very little of value that Scream could add, particularly as all the Universal BDs are region free, too. If they can get Universal to agree to toss in their North American BD of Curse, then why not, but it seems silly, when we're already into diminishing returns by throwing in the disappointing Seed of Chucky, (moreso if Bride of Chucky doesn't see a new scan as well) to spend more money producing a new Region A locked Blu-ray of a digitally-shot feature which has a perfectly serviable region free Blu-ray already.

This is exactly what I predict they are doing. I'm betting that while yes, a new commentary is being recorded for part 1, in addition to this, Collectors edition quality releases are being prepared for parts 2 and 3. I predict a full Child's Play Box set similar to how the Halloween Box set was produced with a shared licensing agreement and some discs being re-used. In other words...

1) Child's Play (Same Transfer as MGM Disc with all old special features but also adding a new Commentary track).
2) Child's Play 2 (Same Transfer as previous release, but included will be multiple commentaries, the tv version (possibly as a separate DVD), and various behind the scenes features/documentaries.)
3) Child's Play 3 (Same Transfer as previous release, but included will be multiple commentaries, the tv version (possibly as a separate DVD), and various behind the scenes features/documentaries.)
4) Bride of Chucky (Potential new Transfer, probably the same Disc as before New commentary is likely)
5) Seed of Chucky (Same disc as before... possible new commentary)
6) Curse of Chucky (Same disc as released in 2013)

I also wouldn't be surprised to see a Bonus retrospective disc that includes additional features, but given the lack of material, I'm going to assume that most extras will be found on each film's disc instead.

I won't be shocked if Child's Play turns out to be a single release, but in this case a Box Set seems likely considering the working relationship with both MGM and Universal.

At the most SF will release CP 2 and 3, I can't see them releasing Bride or Seed.

I see SF releasing just the first 3 to be honest.

Incidentally, if they are doing Child's Play, they should wait another 2 years to tie it in with the 30th anniversary. Even better, release a new box set in 2018 with all 7 films (there's 7th film coming by the way) and a bonus disc.

So does this fellow:

Having never owned Child's Play before, if/when Scream Factory does release it, I'll pick it up. Considering that Shout! had once actually been offered Child's Play 2 and 3 (which they passed on), I would assume that they would probably try and get them again. I imagine what we'll see will be a Child's Play trilogy set, like the Amityville one.

Not one but TWO slipcovers.
