The first movie is in 3D and Atmos is a definite home theater demo material.I loved it!
Can't wait to see the second 3D blu ray released.Hopefully it bombs at the box office so it hits the shelves within 2 months after its theatrical release

Then we won't get another movie.

If they could match the live action conversion to the strong 3D renderings of the CGI in part 2, even better.

Agreed. Fans of the Turtles will show up for part 2 if they enjoyed the first one, myself included.

So, no one is gonna bring up that April O'Neil looks like a slutty school girl?

Looking forward to this. We're now in the territory of the original cartoon from my childhood with that trailer.

I enjoyed the first. In a real rarity IMHO for a modern reboot, it genuinely captured the magic and feel of the original for me. That rarely happens when most these days seem to show such a contempt for the original material (like Man of Steel - urgh) that make you wonder why they bothered to remake at all.

Megan Fox, this may help her career as April O'Neil. She doesn't remind me of April from the original cartoon, but since she's not the main star, no big deal IMO. Krang showing up in this one.

Agreed, some good pop outs in TMNT2014.

This looks promising and has the style of the first one. Hopefully that follows with the same 3D stereo team also from the first one. The tank's cannon firing directly into the camera is a good sign they cared about the 3D again.

This is directed by Dave Green, his previous movie Earth to Echo was really great, a fun ET style adventure. I am very keen to see what he brings to the table here as i thought the director of the previous movie Jonathan Liebesman did a wonderful job in terms of staging the action for 3D.

Thanks Levcore. I was wondering how that movie was. The 3D staging was awesome for the snow scene and many other CGI scenes, agreed. Great direction, storyboarding and teamwork getting it to look as good as it did.

I remember seeing that in the theater in 3D. That was awesome.

Yeah, the 3D here is one of my in-theater favorites of 2014. I hope they have the same 3D team for part 2.

I just came back from a screening of this in RealD 3D.

Reviews are embargoed so I will avoid spoilers and concentrate on the 3D, which you'll all be pleased to know is much better than on the first movie (which I only saw theatrically in 2D, catching up with it in 3D on blu ray).

I thought the depth was medium/strong with clear object separation and a pleasing roundness to the turtles - very nice 3D even if it's mostly kept behind the screen. I find that CGI always looks nice in 3D and so it does here. But what impressed me were all the pop-outs, it's a fast moving movie so they tended to go by quickly but I'm sure I spotted a lot more than in the first film and they weren't all just projectiles (though there was a fair few of those).

The stand-out sequence for me to rival the snow sequence in the original was the one with all the action in and around a plane - Paramount need to be commended for sticking with 3D because Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Out Of The Shadows looks a treat.

I finally caught a 3D trailer of Turtles 2 yesterday and the 3D looks like medium layers but I hope I'm wrong and the movie itself surpasses what I saw in the trailer's 3D.

The 3D better than the first one? Better than the strong 3D of the snow scene? Sounds promising. Turtles 1 3D; my favorite theatrical 3D movie of 2014.

When it comes to depth one man's medium is another man's strong and I am rarely disciplined enough to make mental notes about layering but I do notice pop-outs, and there were just about enough of those to keep me happy throughout. In any case, if the first was was your favourite theatrical experience of 2014 you really should see this one, whether it's medium or strong to your eyes.

West London, though I spend a lot of time in central London (where I watched the film today) and I have lived in east London in the past.

3D strength estimations are relative to a visual source's weakest intent and visual components strongest detail resolving capability.
