They even give five movies with a PS3 in the US now...

A better bet might be for Sony/the other manufacturers to offer say... a $150 voucher to go towards the purchase of any BD player along with any of their HDTV's.
In a few months, assuming the price of players will be from 399-499 bucks, that could make the players seriously tempting at prices like $249 and $299 bucks. Especially if you've just got a new HDTV.

Throw in a couple of free blurays with the player and you've got yourself a winner
