I don't understand why compulsively buying physical discs was a problem of the format. You can go overboard with discs or with digital. It isn't a fault of Blu-ray if you buy too many. Nobody said you have to build up a collection. Just buy those ones you watch over and over and Netflix whatever else.

I personally am a hybrid of both. I'm not anti streaming like some. I actually rent a ton of movies from VUDU and love the service plus I have 700 in my library. However having discs on hand is still the best way to go for my favorites. When my collection was 100% digital I had days the internet would go out with Comcast. Guess what I was able to watch....nothing! With the disc I have a collection that downed internet can't stop me from watching.

sorry, I thought I answered you “no" to caring about PQ tele1962. Do I care about old films being remastered?, hell yes, and those same options will be sold to the digital market to try to get your bucks, so I am in no way afraid that will stop happening.

I like action movies, Music documentaries and I like old b/w and colour movies. What I love about Netflix is the old movies I totally forgot about or didn’t even know existed and can watch it right away and not to go out and buy it. And if I don’t like it, I saved myself $10 -$35

I do own the Bond 50th anny Blu-ray box set and love it, but don’t watch it too often. I wish it was on Netflix! But again, I see it TV in HD often enough.

Looking at the Netflix menu reminds me of the rental stores when the new releases came out and hoped to eventually get to watch that movie. I sometimes look at my iTunes movie releases and rarely feel the need to buy it. Christ, Ant-Man is already on Netflix and the same with lots of the Marvel movies.

Is the quality good enough for me on Netflix? For the price, hell yes! Is $25/month for 4K on Netflix too much? yes for now, as it is in it’s infancy, but once again, in the future........

Will Steedeel mention how digital will only be shown on little wrist watches, yes!

Netflix is not what I'd hold as the shining example of streaming. You can only watch what they have. I don't want to be told I can only pick from this selection of movies. I have Netflix because their shows are great, bit almost never watch movies on there. At least VUDU I can pick what I want to watch.

There are sooooooo few Movies that I feel I need to own/have that physical copy, because I am afraid it will not be available in the future.(Like really???)

Like I mentioned, every new Format that came out, I bought less and less movies as I noticed I was just collecting them, not really watching them all.

This is why Digital in the future works for me. And yes unfortunately there are too many services that will tie up your money if your not careful. It is the same thing. You are still collecting. I will not buy that many digital copies either, but I will gladly support it, because yes, I believe it is the future.

I think you can answer that question yourself. The bigger the TV, the bigger the pixels are, therefore it only makes sense 8K will look (I’d like to say twice as good, but can’t be quoted saying this as I have not seen it), will only look that much better.

Let’s face it, the bigger the screen, the more finer pixels you require to make it look better.
Good luck finding 50 movies to watch in a month on Netflix, they have a very poor movie selection, Netflix is all bout series.

And you will pay a fortune to stream in 8k, you'll need the fastest internet service available, in the long run I don't think you'll save.

Well so be it, this is the type of guy I am. I feel the future is digital and/or streaming.

I don’t feel the need to own 6 copies of the same movie. I don’t need the steelbook cover, the Japanese version, the 5th anniversary version, the 25th any version and sooo on. And I don’t have to now go out and buy the same 6 movies in UHD.

But that’s just me, I ain’t knocking you or anyone for collecting or owning the hard copy.

Do I even know what a remaster is or even a film restoration is, even interested in the work that goes into doing this? No, grade 6 took my 12 years to complete and I am working on grade 7 now.

Again, iTunes will sell you those same new releases of that same hard copy!

I am only using Netflix as an example, there is already VUDU, Shomi and many more in the future and again, I am talking the future!

So basically you are on a Blu Ray forum and are not one bit interested in PQ also you don't need much of an education to know if something looks good or bad.

I know you are not knocking me for wanting to own the superior copy, but your continued support for streaming might one day remove that choice and god only knows what we will be left with.

As I mentioned earlier, Some blu-rays include both the unrated and theatrical release of a movie for the price of one blu-ray. If you were to buy a digital movie you would only have a choice of the theatrical or unrated if there were both versions, at least as in my experience with Vudu. If you bought the unrated version of a movie on Vudu, you would have to buy or rent the theatrical release separately if you wanted to see the theatrical release as well in my experience.

There was only one time the a UV code I redeemed through Vudu added the theatrical and unrated release of a movie and that was when I redeemed Leon The Professional but the rest of the times a UV code would either redeem as unrated or theatrical.

I here what your sayin’ and I’m sorry If I sound heartless, it’s just not as important to me as it is to you. I am only commenting in this thread about the future, I am not knocking Blu-rays in any other threads and believe it or not, I still love my Blu-rays.

I’m just against re-re-re--re-reformating my collections and doubt I will venture into 4K UHD, but saying that, I may change my mind.......

Going a little off topic here, but I feel the same way about CD’s. Sold them off, don’t miss them, and am quite content with all my music on my iPod and iPhone. Sounds great on my home Stereo, in the Car, in the shower (Bluetooth) and walking the dog with my beats headphones.

I back up all my music, so am not afraid of losing it.

I still have a soft spot for my Beatles mono CD box set, but don’t even play them, and the same with my Original 60’s U.K. Beatles LP’s and Singles. And don’t even think about prying my 007 Blu-ray box set away from my cold hard hands.... Yes those are all Physical copies, I am referring to.

Just to be clear: did you rebuy your music on iTunes? Or did you just keep the rips of the CDs you sold?

If you rebought then you probably spent more on buying digital versions instead of using CD rips which are completely legal and just as convenient.

If you kept the rips of the CDs you sold then you're committing piracy.

You can do what you want, but just know that each time you decide to buy a movie and you go with digital instead of physical, you are doing more to hurt physical media in the long run than you are to help digital.
I realize this to an extent, but digital calls to me. I can't help that I like having movies at the touch of a button. I'm about as addicted to digital as I once was to Blu-ray and DVD. I will continue to collect physical media as well as digital. I know it can irk some folks that I'm not all-in with physical media.

I've been a big supporter of physical media over the years, to the point that I consistently maintained Elite status at Best Buy, but my buying has become more diversified lately, to the point that I didn't qualify to keep my Elite status this year. It's not all because of digital. I've also been ordering physical media from Amazon.

I feel that as long as I haven't abandoned physical media altogether, I'm still doing more than most people. I don't know anyone who truly collects movies like I do. We're already dwindling. As long as we don't disappear, the studios won't cease to allow consumers to own new/old movies. I definitely don't want to one day wake up to a society of renters, and zero collectors. That would be an absolute shame.

You are totally wrong. Do you think Apple would give you a burn disc option on their iTunes if they didn't allow it? Don't you think they would have to remove that function if it was Piracy? Why isn't the music industry all over this? Are they not aware of this little function???

You guys are taking this Physical ownership way too far, and are way out there in Left field, that you are coming up with rubbish excuses and just nonsense explanations how it will all disappear and you will never be able to watch your favourite movie ever again... lol
