Steve asked me if it was a f***ed up disc or a DVD. LOL!
I showed him the BD case and the disc itself. He was not impressed.

So, your comments about my laptop are a joke.
Yeah, even when played on my laptop - 300 looked like crap!

Whatever pal, you can go back to your happy place now!
What are you talking about? Why would I comment on a display you do not even own?

I totally agree, loved the theatrical version but the director's cut the whole third act is changed and it sucks. When I bought this Blu I thought both versions were included. Interesting enough Mel Gibson produced the film and he insisted on the changes, however crazy he may be, he knows how to make a good move. Only Blu that I would gladly use as a frizbee. Anyone want it?

agree and i have to admit that a laptop display is not gonna give you a great display over a 37" and above 1080p LCD @24fps.

Sunshine - I purchased it because everyone was singing praises about the PQ. The story was so lame I would never watch it again... so I traded it in.

If someone went into a PQ thread and recommended a BD be placed into a particular tier on this forum or any other and mentioned that their viewing was on a 17" laptop...they would be completely ignored and disregarded.

I just expected for someone so cocky to actually own a decent display.

Because, on this laptop and on the HDTV at Steve's house, 300 looked like crap.
All you want to do is talk smack about my laptop*s*.
The fact is, 300 was subpar PQ wise. Period.
Whether on these laptops or on a Panasinic HDTV, the picture was - crap.
The odds that my laptop screen and the Panny were/are EXACTLY the same configuration wise is astronomical.
This leaves only one conclusion - 300 PQ sucked.

Why are you so adamant about it? It was a movie for chrisakes! Let it go! LOL!

At 8 feet viewing distance, I agreee!
A 17" display at 8 feet will be a postcard!
Now, at 22"(the nominal viewing distance for a laptop) the vieing distance and angle are comparable to a 60" HDTV at 8 feet.

Here, see how well you are doing:

37" huh? Hope you are within 4.1 feet from it!

It's like dealing with a child. Except for the fact that even my children have a better understanding of this.

50 First Dates - not a fan of Adam Sandler and Drew Berrymore, somewhat disappoint transfer to blu ray
House of Furry - really bad acting, somewhat disappoint transfer to blu ray
The Mummy -great movie, disappointing transfer to blu, blury mess
The Mummy Returns - great movie, disappointing transfer to blu, blury mess
Enter the Dragon - great classic, transfer to blu was disappointing
The Road Warrior - great classic, transfer to blu was disappointing
Maybe your set needs to be adjusted or your screens really large, Road Warrior looked great on my 42" Panasonic and the review on the Mummy movies was good I thought.

I was not impressed with the restored version of Full Metal Jacket, it still looked bad and Bram Stokers Dracula looked pretty bad too but most of these could be the source material.

But by the time it came out on dvd, I was not interested in getting it but was eventually gonna pick it up when it got cheap. Never did. I've seen it a few times on TV and gotten a kick out of a few scenes, but at this point I have no interest whatsoever in buying it on Blu-ray, no matter how good it looks.
Agreed.

Wow, I can't believe how many of you bought really crappy movies. I would never buy a BD w/o having ever seen the movie, with a very few exception (ie Iorn Man).

The only one I kind of wish I hadn't bought would be Gangs of New York. I love Scorsese and its a pretty good movie, but the transfer was botched completely. Some scenes are OK but in others the edge enhancement is extremely blatant.

These distances are recommendations not gospel man, trying to judge PQ from your Commodore 64 is laughable.

I Robot - excellent PQ
Speed Racer - excellent PQ
Cars - excellent PQ
300 - poor PQ

YMMV.
Now, if you cannot accept my or anyone else's assessment of the PQ, sorry!
Apparently we differ on opinion as to what PQ is.

Have a great evening!
GRAIN! not PQ. 300 looks great that is how it is suppose to look, the movie on the other hand is gladiator meets Sin City motion effects.

46, disabled(motorcycle accident) living on disability.
No need or want for a HDTV.
*IF* I really want to view something on a large screen, I can always go three houses down to Steve's house.
When I watch BDs on his HDTV they look remarkable the same as they do here on these laptops - just that I am accress the room from the display. DUH!

Please stop PMing me with your childish comments, thanks!

Either way, grain detracts from PQ.
Would you pay for a grainy or degraded portrait of your child? Why not?

Yes, as I stated, but some seem to only read what they want to read, 300 may very well be accurate to the cinematic playbeck that was seen in the theater. Good! Great! Killer!

Judging PQ against other reference Blu-ray titles, 300 is not exactly reference material. Period.
Between the poor PQ and the fact that *I* didn't like the story, I gave it away.

Is that ok with you people? It's not like it cost you anything for me to do so, right? Drop it already!
