Get me a link of a video and I'll happily translate/summarize it

Wow! Thank you. That is very nice of you to offer to do that. But, it's really not that important. Thanks again!

No problem, bud . The offer stands. I do hate it when they dub these interviews...

Jim Jarmusch's latest is getting a lot of love. People saying it's Driver's best performance.

From the Land of the Moon (Marion Cotillard's film) seems be taking a lot of the heat, seems to be the big blunder of the festival thus far.

Now showing, Loving press conference.

Quote:
“The Crime of Being Married.” So read the headline that accompanied photos of Richard Loving, a Southern “white trash” construction worker, and his African-American wife Mildred in the pages of Life magazine. One day — maybe today — audiences will sit down to watch Jeff Nichols’ “Loving,” which goes nearly the entire first reel before explaining that mixed-race marriages were illegal in Virginia at the time, and they’ll be surprised to learn what the crime in question was, having already observed and accepted the on-screen couple without the blinders of racial prejudice.

It is from this position of relative enlightenment that Nichols approaches the true story of “the Loving couple,” a film of utmost sensitivity, but not nearly enough outrage, secure in its position vis-à-vis the bigotry that dominated before America’s Civil Rights revolution. Like the plaintiffs in the Supreme Court case that identified marriage as an inherent human right, “Loving” is a humble, soft-spoken film, in which no one so much as raises his voice or weeps in the face of undeniable injustice. Though it will inevitably factor heavily in end-of-year Oscar conversations, Nichols’ film is seemingly less interested in its own glory than in representing what’s right, and though it features two of the best American performances in years, from Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga (neither of whom are American, hailing from Australia and Ethiopia, respectively), it’s emotional impact derives precisely from how understated they are. Jarmusch can do no wrong. The guy has never made a bad film per say. His films are full of interesting ideas and themes. I'm glad it sounda like Paterson is bucking that trend.

Oh my goodness. I've never heard of Ruth Negga before, but she's absolutely adorable.

She was in WWZ, I think that's the only thing I've seen her in.

She is half Irish, half Ethiopian, and has been in films such as Breakfast on Pluto (2005), The Samaritan (2012), and Jimi: All Is by My Side (2013). She will co-star in the upcoming television series Preacher and Warcraft film.

But, she is at Cannes because she co-stars in Jeff Nichol's interracial marriage drama, Loving, with Joel Edgerton.

She's also been in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Kristen Stewart’s ‘Personal Shopper’ Booed at Cannes Premiere

Quote:
Kristen Stewart’s latest collaboration with director Olivier Assayas, “Personal Shopper,” was booed following a press screening at the Cannes Film Festival.

“There’s a certain perverse genius to unveiling a ghost movie at Cannes that relies on the audience to deliver the ‘boos’ as the final credits roll, although one doubts that’s quite what Olivier Assayas was going for with his peculiar ‘Personal Shopper,'” Variety Chief International Film Critic Peter Debruge wrote in his review. Yeah, it seems like most of the reviews I've seen have pretty positive, with a lot of praise for K-Stew's performance. I'm definitely interested in seeing it. It sounds ... fascinating. And Assayas has never let me down yet.

Damn it, you beat me to it. The last film that got booed at Cannes was Sea of Trees and Only God Fogives. I liked Only God Forgives.
And who booes at Cannes?

Haha. Sorry. I haven't seen Sea of Trees, but I agree with the consensus that Only God Forgives was terrible.

Only God Forgives needs a second viewing to appreciate on any level. It's no Drive but it's good, though I can understand the initial negativity that audiences had.

Yeah, the main complaints for the movie are:

Boring
Slow
Not much story or relatable characters
Ryan Gosling staring in space and hardly having any dialogue
Pretentious and artsy (Which is a dumb complaint)
Too violent

I thought it was good. Sure, it can be slow at times and the karaoke scenes are so pointless, but it was fine.
