Default Disney Channel Original Movie Marathon on Memorial Day Weekend!

*Note: Since these are "original movies" tied to a channel, the Disney channel (to be specific), that is why I am posting this here. They are technically TV movies, but...keep the thread or move it to the proper place, would you? It's hard to really classify them and where they can fit.*

Starting Friday, May 27th thru Monday, May 30th, Disney Channel is opening their vault of Disney Channel Original Movies and giving us a marathon of epic proportions these four days. Four days STRAIGHT, yes, of constant goodness from the 90s and 00s that many of us grew up with as the Disney Channel could afford.

http://www.bustle.com/articles/16298...your-calendars

The article here lists the times that each movie will air and on which day.

However, they are not observing proper viewing order for movies and their sequels. Some movies, such as Halloweentown, Zenon, High School Musical, etc., seemingly will have their original movies aired out of order in this schedule in contrast to sequels. So if anyone wants to watch, know that some movies may not make sense in a way...fortunately, the catalog here looks like it's 90-95% standalone, so there's little issue of that. And not every movie is due to air, so it's better than nothing.

Spread the word and enjoy.

Update: AutomaticDriver messaged me on this, verified on Google. Starting from Tuesday night (about 12am/11pm CST), which is likely going to happen this coming early morning (I still get confuzzled), there will be two DCOMs airing every day around this time for a few weeks. It will continue right until June 24th with the premiere of the 100th DCOM, Adventures in Babysitting (remake) at 8pm EST/7PM CST.

THE MOVIES THAT AIR AT THIS TIME BRACKET WERE NOT IN THE MEMORIAL DAY MARATHON!!! So anything you hoped to see but wasn't in the marathon will air at this time for one night. Refer to https://ohmy.disney.com/news/2016/05/24/192479/ for details/scheduling.

I heard about this a 1-3 months ago, but man they have the weirdest scheduling... they should have the first movies on Friday and then 2nd on Saturday, etc etc not have them all jumbled up lol My favorite one (Color of Friendship) isn't on there though so that sucks.

I'll probably try and catch some of them, like Zenon Halloweentown, Rip Girls, Brink, Pixel Perfect... but it'd be nice if they'd put them on BD, I'd even be fine with the franchises being a 2-3 pack BD release lol

Thanks for making the thread. I debated creating one when this was announced a couple months ago but the right location definitely gave me pause.

Does anyone know a good way to watch these films in HD other than this sweet broadcast coming up? I'd absolutely buy blus of these films, even if we got double or triple packs. Many of them weren't even put on dvd from my searches.

I remember Color of Friendship. It was definitely an enlightening movie about how the South African apartheid in the 70s could challenge two young people into looking past where they come from.

Man, these movies really drew in surprising stars:
-Genius had Emmy Rossum of Shameless in it.
-Halloweentown had Judith Hoag and Debbie Reynolds.
-Smart House had Katey Segal of Married With Children and Sons of Anarchy.
-Read It and Weep had the Panabaker Sisters (Danielle is one, aka Caitlin Snow from Flash), with Danielle returning for Stuck in the Suburbs
-Johnny Tsunami had Cary Hiroyuki-Tagawa (Shang Tsung of Mortal Kombat)
-Alley Cats Strike! had Kaley Cuoco (Penny from TBBT)
-Right on Track had Brie Larson in it
-Eddie's Million Dollar Cook-Off had Rose McIver (iZombie) in it
-Rip Girls had Camilla Belle in it
-Horse Sense and The Other Me pulled the three Lawrence brothers: Joey, Matt, and Andrew to do them
-And of course, some others made their mark in their respective movie adaptations of Disney Channel TV shows like Shia LeBeouf, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez...

And Disney Channel's due to do its 100th DCOM, which happens to be a remake of Adventures in Babysitting...........................Okay.

Anyway, there's quite a lot missing from the list. They got a total of over 50 movies airing. But if this event does well for them, I am all for them revitalizing all of the movies to air.

If you have Disney Channel HD, that'd be the best way to do it. I'm on Verizon and I have DC on 250...the HD channel's not available for me, so it depends on the package you got.

I don't think they did start doing dedicated Blu's for DCOMs until the 2010s. They started doing widescreen releases with Princess Protection Program in 2009 when it came out on DVD, even though prior films from 2005 onward converted fully to Widescreen.

Can of Worms has an alien dog voiced by Malcolm McDowell. Isn't that crazy

Smart House was directed by LaVar Burton too haha

I think I may have seen Brink more than any other film. I watched disney, cartoon network, and nickelodeon nonstop as a kid and I couldn't get enough of their dcoms back then.

Looking forward to the Adventures In Babysitting remake. It may suck but at least will have Sofia Carson to look at.

If anyone misses one of these or one they want isn't airing Google Play has every one of them from what I can tell for $5.99 each. Not bad to relive memories of being excited for a new Disney Channel movie.

I find it funny that their 100th DCOM is actually a remake. irony.

and depending on how you'd classify 'star', Leah Pipes was in Pixel Perfect

She'd count for all the Vampire Diaries and Originals fans, to be sure.

Well, I like her, but she's probably not as much of a 'star' as some of the others to come from DCOMs (which I don't like :P)

I first got Disney Channel back in 2006, so, many movies on the marathon, I haven't seen, many which I consider forgettable, and a few which I liked, but are not part of the marathon.

I think my all-time personal favorite would have to be Pixel Perfect. I liked Leah Pipes, and the movie had a great message. Disney rehashed that message with the 2014 DCOM How To Build A Better Boy. So, it was pretty clever to air these two back-to-back, but they still got the airing order wrong *smh* . Another personal favorite of mine was Minutemen, which is not on the marathon. That movie also had a good message, but it didn't have as strong an impact on me like Pixel Perfect did. The Thirteenth Year was forgettable, but it starred Courtnee Draper, who went on to voice Elizabeth on Bioshock Infinite, and even covered the religious song Will The Circle Be Unbroken. The Wizards Of Waverly Place Movie was actually pretty good, and the wizard competition in the movie was sooo much better than the one shown in the TV series finale. Right On Track holds a special place in my heart, because Beverley Mitchell was my first major crush thanks to 7th Heaven. And one last mention for Model Behavior, which was forgettable, is not on the marathon, but starred Maggie Lawson, who went on to star on Psych(awesome series), which aired for 8 seasons.

You're awesome! Cheers for posting this info. I did a few searches for things like brink, can of worms, under wraps and they all came up

Haven't watched Disney Channel in over a decade (nothing but crap now) but this nostalgic movie marathon will have me tuning in throughout the weekend. This is pretty cool.

For some reason I never would have thought to look to see if these were released digitally so thanks for the info. Looks like Amazon has them as well.

Model Behavior was on The Wonderful World of Disney on ABC, it wasn't a DCOM.

Cool. But this is just a missed opportunity that they didn't put their older ones on there instead of the 1998 & newer ones. After all many of the kids the past 15 years most likely not seen them.

Some of the ones from the earlier years that would have been nice to watch again after all of these years with plenty not even getting a DVD.

They don't even have all of the ones from 1998 onward airing. They got about 50 movies airing in this, but some interesting ones aren't. And I do sympathize with missing the 90s era flicks, but they didn't issue the DCOM stamp on the movies until sometime in 97-98, so...maybe the movies prior to that fell under a different listing.
