Well, there is already evidence that some of them correctly recognize that HDR re-grades are inappropriate for catalog titles, so I'm just hoping that this release will be handled in such a way.

The entire Gibson series has video issues at home, HDR will just be another in along line of things that change it

That's true enough, look at all the b*tching which greeted Mad Max 2 on Blu about the colour timing. (It does look VERY pasty though, all things considered.)

I'll definitely be getting this in any case, it's just about the last catalogue movie I'd have expected to see on UHD this early into its lifecycle (though there is the Fury Road connection I 'spose) so I'm in.

I doubt even 4K with HDR could salvage that night scene in Mad Max 2!

It's beyond saving I would think
And I doubt that MGM have made a new master for this

Anything is possible with the power of computers!

PS: just as long as they don't do that "teal and/or orange" bullsh-t, I'll be happy.

I would be interested in reading that, got a link?

Now that you have evoked it, you probably jinxed it into coming true...

Sorry to go all dvdmike, but how is a useless tweet from some random 4K website in any way newsworthy?

We know that MM will get a UHD release: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=278337

This certainly sends a promising message about catalogue titles in 4k. Wonder if Warner will bring MM2 and Thunderdome to 4k. If Thunderdome came to 4k, I would buy a player on the spot!

I didn't mind the Thunderdome master at all to be honest. Much better than that horrendous dvd. The contrast could admittedly use some work though. What I'd really like to see are the deleted scenes included. But then again, between this and Babe: Pig in the City, George Miller films seem to have a bad record with making the deleted segments available ( Especially if the movie features pigs it seems )
.

The gate weave needs to be fixed and there are other issues, it's an old HDTV master.
He does not look on the film fondly for obvious reasons (despite it being the best) too many bad memories.
So I don't blame him for leaving it alone
