The last book, The Troubled Man, is the end of the Wallander series of novels. It remains to be seen if Mankell carries on writing about Linda as he had planned to do before the death of Johanna Sallstrom. Mankell's other novels are well worth reading especially The Man From Beijing and Return Of The Dancing Master.
If you're looking for more Nordic crime fiction don't forget the book that started off the current interest, Miss Smilla's Feeling For Snow, made into a mediocre film in the late 90's and if you feel like something more demanding, try Arnaldur Indridason's utterly bleak Icelandic novels featuring Erlendur. All are quietly downbeat especially the superb Silence Of The Grave. Only Jar City has been made into a film, very good and deserving of a blu ray issue. |

I presume they BBC will be showing this in late April as the BD is out 7th May. Good to see that they are continuing the BD as seem to release very few of their dramas on it.
Have pre-ordered from Amazon who seem significantly cheaper than elsewhere. |

Read on the BBC that the first episode of Series 3, "An Event in Autumn", finally aired last night, so it looks like the current 23 July release date will stick for the Blu-ray release, as right now "The Dogs of Riga" would air next Sunday, and "Before the Frost" would air (presumably) on 22 July.

I finally got the UK BDs and have watched series one and two.
Important question for anyone else who has them: Is there an echo on the 5.1 track of series 2, episode 2, "The Man Who Smiled"? It's really pronounced and runs through the whole episode. Every sound is repeated, muffled, a fraction of a second later. Basically, the entire episode sounds like it's happening in a large metal building. I had to watch the whole thing on the stereo track, which is normal. I'm assuming the master they used was defective and every BD has this echo, but if mine alone is defective I'll try to get a replacement. Thanks!!! |

The fourth series will premiere later this month on Das Erste in Germany, so hopefully, a UK airing is not too far behind in 2016:

So glad to see this. For the first time ever the show aired on PBS before BBC this month and I watched the first episode, The White Lioness, but was shocked to find it only ran 80 mins. I checked, and the BBC version a few weeks later was 89. PBS cut a whole lengthy sequence out of the middle for the US airing. I refused to watch the second and third episodes when they aired, equally butchered, on PBS. I don't know what version PBS is releasing on their DVD.
Glad to see this getting an uncut BD, had been checking Amazon.co.uk everyday for an announcement. Have been watching the UK versions, the last one was an intensely moving near-finale to the series, watching the final one tonight and expecting great things. |

In the case of Wallander, the series is broadcast on PBS, but released on video by BBC Worldwide (via Warner) in the US, so there is much less of a chance that the episodes would be substantially different. However, obviously they are converted to 60Hz, and only the second series was ever released on Blu-ray, with the third only being released on DVD, and currently, the fourth only available to pre-order on DVD. As for the UK Complete Collection Blu-ray, it will almost certainly just be the separate releases housed in a slipcase or slipbox, with no additional exclusive content or bonus discs beyond what might be included on the upcoming standalone release of Series 4. |
