Hurrah!

Quote:
We’re pleased to announce that the licensor complications which were preventing the release of our Dissent & Disruption: Alan Clarke at the BBC DVD and Blu-ray box sets have been resolved, and that all three box sets will now be released on Monday 20 June.

We apologise for any disappointment that this two-week delay causes, but we hope that you’ll share our relief and excitement at the fact that these highly anticipated sets will now, finally, see the light of day.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

With physical copies already existing, it would have been a shame for everybody to have a longer delay.

Apologies if this has been answered but how many sets is this limited too? How likely is it to sell out

No one knows. Have seen it claimed it was either 1,000 or 3,000 but have not seen any official confirmation. BFI have in the past used 3,000 copies for most of their single disk and boxset limited editions, but given this is much more expensive, may be smaller quantities as they will not want unsold copies lying around for a long time and potentially having to discount them.

Release date pushed forward to May 13th (because physical copies were already made and basically just waiting for the legal issue to be solved).

It would be nice to know. If its something like 1000 then I would do my best to pre order but if its 3000 or even 5000 then I would wait till reviews are about and I've a little more free cash. €150 is a bit much to take a gamble.

A few are up already.
Mondo Digital and cineoutsider have full reviews, DVDCompare and Digital Fix are doing ongoing reviews for each disc.

13th June

Base.com via Rakuten have shipped my copy. Less than £90 as 12% voucher + 5% points + 6% cashback.

If the official release date is now Monday 13th, then HMV usually ship Friday for a Saturday delivery.

I guess Base.com shipped today as they use slower mail services, than HMV who use Royal Mail (next day - 24 hour delivery).

They did ship mine yesterday though, which is why it's a little odd.

The BFI confirmed in a reply on Twitter that it's limited to 3000 copies.

A nice video essay on Clarke's use of steadicam in his mid-late 80s work has been posted on the BFI's YouTube page.

Got mine too! Absolutely stunning set. I've only seen two films in the box but just from flicking through the huge book, looking over the artwork and breakdown of features this is easily a top contender for set of the year. BFI knocked this one out of the park!

So after a bit of saving up I've just ordered:
Dissent and Disruption (bluray set)
Tales out of School (bluray)
Scum (movie version bluray)
Billy the Kid and the Green Baize Vampire (DVD, as blu-ray version is unlikely)

Surely there is going to be a Rita, Sue and Bob Too bluray coming out soon, as the TT bluray is silly money...?
