Yeah, this is something I am struggling with because a lot of movies came with UV only codes.

I don't want to re-buy them on iTunes. My library is shared with 5 friends and family. Some of them don't have Apple products so it's even tougher to deal with the idea of switching services.

Honest, mate read my posts instead of selectively ignoring them.

Watching on Digital, will destroy film restoration and PQ but you can not seem to grasp that?

I have read your posts and I have also said that movies I care about video quality, I buy a disc. Movies that I don't care about owning a disc, I buy on Vudu or iTunes. Not every movie has to be 100% awesome video quality.

Somehow I must have missed that LCD destroyed the TV industry. PDP is just a technology that lost. They were heavy, used a lot more power, had burn-in problems, and often weren't bright enough to be used in a well-lit room during daylight. They had their advantages, but overall modern LCDs with local dimming and OLEDs are simply better. In my opinion, a projector is the only choice for a real movie fan anyway.

So a limited edition version of The Thing on Blu-ray from Shout Factory sells out in less than 12 hours, and you're sitting here telling us that you're worried about physical media. It's cool. Physical media is still here to stay. I guess if it weren't for digital it would've sold out in half that time? We're talking about a re-release of a 34 year old film. Not bad. See? There's good things out there too.

Oh lord...........now we see why.

They were heavy? Why did you want to take them to the bathroom with you?

Used more power? .................maybe yes, but achieved much better PQ.

LCD better, oh dear, oh dear.......I see now what the joe public thinks!

I think you are forgetting that companies don't cater to people who love movies on Bluray.com.

At the end of the day, whatever technology is more efficient, cheaper to produce, and the public buys the most of will win.

As I said, sad times indeed, LCD being the point in question

Mount them to a wall?

That is very debatable, unless you only have seen 3 year old Walmart models.

And again, I'll take an iTunes movie on my projector over even the sharpest Blu-ray on a teeny-weeny 55" screen any day. It's just a much more cinematic experience.

When it's put that way it does sound depressing, but in this case there doesn't have to be a winner declared. They can co-exist. Of course, one will likely dominate over the other, but not eclipse it.

The death knell IMO for physical media is sounding loud and clear and unfortunately many of those posting here do not care one way or another......they really are the ones loosing out in the end............sad times.
Many do care...but again, it just depends on how much you want to collect and how many collecting movies is really that important to you in the grand scheme of things.

I love cinema. It's my addition. Yet, collecting it isn't that important to me anymore. Seeing as much as I can is. I can't do that if I have thousands and thousands of favorites on the shelf or on the harddrive that I feel I need to revisit to justify the money I spent.

It's really that simple.

I go with PQ every time.

Well that sums this up.

No one being Elite, just stating facts, and they don't lie.

You know all the information on a Blu-ray disc is digital right? You can't just blanket digital....if you have a problem it is with streaming....not digital. I can backup a Blu-ray onto my computer with the EXACT same PQ and AQ as a Blu-ray. The worse PQ comes into it with streaming.

The Blu-ray disc is just a storage format for a file that plays back. The same file can be on a PC playing the same.

Bingo! Which is why we need something like Steam for Blurays!
