My girlfriend got this for me last christmas.

Im going to stick with it. The steelbook looks cool and its region free. The quality was pretty good on it. These are very "once in a great while movies" for me so Id rather not upgrade to syanpse versions. Had some bonus stuff on them also which I wasnt expecting.

Not really all that comparable. Basket Case is to it's sequels what The Evil Dead is to Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness where the filmmakers switch from a more horror-oriented overtone to a more comedy-oriented tone. I have a strong preference for the original to the sequels, and dissention pretty much summed up many of the reasons why:

I love all 3 Basket Case films but 2 and 3 are my favourites. 3 was one of my monthly vhs rentals from back in the day. I own the UK blu-ray set but I have a feeling Synapse's blu-rays will look better. The UK ones looked very good but suffered compression issues and didn't look as good as they could all around. Synapse always maximizes the bitrates of their releases and since these are two of my favourite horror sequels, I will double dip. To add to those points, having the original poster art is always a plus. Gory, demented, and totally off-the-wall, these movies are absolutely worth your time.

If you really really love 1, you probably won't like the sequels too much because they're silly and funny and not grimy. And if you really hate 1, you probably wouldn't want to watch the sequels anyway. But if you like those fun gory '80's horror-comedies like "Re-Animator" and "Dead Alive", you'll probably enjoy the sequels.

It's strange 3 hasn't dropped to $12.99 as well. Definitely a great deal though! I can't wait to have a triple feature come August.

I imagine it will. I saw them on BN.com last night for $12.08 each. Add a BN coupon to that, and it's a pretty good deal. Although, it's $25 to get free shipping, and this naturally works out to be $24.16 before shipping.

Same here! I sold my DVD copy of Basket Case 2 in preparation! I never got around to owning Basket Case 3 on DVD because I always planned on getting the steelbook eventually, but I'm glad I waited! $12.99 for each movie on blu-ray is a steal. August 9th can't come soon enough!
