Spider-Man PS4 Exclusive from Insomniac Games

Makes sense that this is a PS4 exclusive. Disney owns the comic and merchandising rights to Spider-Man, while Sony owns the film rights. Since both companies now share the rights to the character, it's better for the two companies to work together. Otherwise, become a dead franchise like Fantastic Four.

Also Activision lost the rights to Marvel properties years ago.

Looks like it has much more detail in the city compared to the very bare bones city of Treyarch and Beenox's efforts. This one from Insomniac looks like it has more of the realistic grit of NYC, where not everything is so pristine on the city streets and buildings.

The eyes definitely from Civil War's movie. The giant Spider symbol overlapping everything is different. I can imagine you'll eventually unlock different suits.

On a related note, I've kind of wanted to get a Spider-Man Noir game ever since they did Shattered Dimensions.

lol Come on guys, the suit doesn't really matter that much. There's definitely gonna be different skins in a game like this. But come on, Insomniac making an open world Spidey game? It already has the potential to be the best Spiderman game. I really enjoyed Shattered Dimensions, but it was quite repetitive (and not open world). The Amazing Spiderman open world games had you fighting robots and mutated villains, which to me didn't look very fun.

As for it being exclusive... yes, it does make sense with Sony. Although it is best for consumers to have access to as many games as possible, and for game developers to make as much money as possible, I'm a firm believer in having exclusive games. Why else would I buy one console over another? Hardware doesn't always win me over; I'm all about the games.

• It’s an open world game.
• The game has been worked on for “quites some time.”
• It’s not parts of the films, and Insomniac is doing a bit of its own thing. It’s an original story.
• It’s getting better and better every day as development progresses.
• This is a story where Spider Man and Peter Parker collide. It’s about who is the man under the mask, and who the man becomes after he puts the mask on.
• The game is confirmed as a PS4 exclusive, published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
• Spider Man is a working title, for now. .

Get over it. Spider-Man has existed long before Tobey was even born, and will continue to appear on the screen decades to come. Besides, if you read any comics at all, you would know that Tobey wasn't a very good Spider-Man. So move on already.

From our first meeting, Marvel, Spider-Man and Insomniac have felt like a match made in heaven. We love building big games, with incredible gameplay, deep stories, and beautiful graphics. This will be a console seller for fans of Spider-Man who weren't satisfied with the decent Spider-Man games of the past and without a PS4.

The new kid from Civil War did a respectable job in the role, but Tobey is still a favorite portray of Parker for me also.
