The font looks exactly the same size to me. Criterion nor Twilight Time will fit in there, so it's gonna be a Scream, baby!!

You know what would make this release better? If it gets extra special treatment and gets released with a red case. That would make me giddy.

As if I didn't have enough to-be-upgraded discs to flog off on eBay already.

Titles are constantly leaked here. One recent example is Pan's Labyrinth:

So if Akijama wanted to be respectful towards the label or whatever, then he should have done the same for Pan's Labyrinth, don't you think?

Arrow would be my ideal given their history with Brian De Palma transfers, but I am totally fine with Scream these days as well.

Funny thing is, I put a bunch of sealed titles up for sale on amazon about a week ago, and Carrie was amongst them. I bought it fully two years ago and never even unwrapped it. Soon I'll be able to buy this new edition to put on my shelf and never watch it!

This is one of the few of my favorite movies I avoided buying and have been holding out on for a special edition of, just because it removed such a huge amount of content from the DVD that it seemed unavoidable that it would happen someday. I still don't understand what they were doing with that release, since they'd put out the DVD with all the special features themselves and thus I don't think would have had to pay any licensing money to include them!

I haven't watched my copy either. Mostly because of the total lack of extras.
With that soon to be remedied, now there will be a reason to actually watch the film again

It turned it from a heartbreaking story of an outsider being mocked to her breaking point into a story about a wizard killing the mean people with her magic CGI harry potter powers. Casting one of the most blandly pretty actresses of our time as her was a stupid move, and the way they handled her mother was laughably extreme.
Idk, I had a lot of fun with it. I thought Chloe handled the role nicely as well. I'm an easy going dude though.

The Euro disc has extras, but I still never bothered with it.

There was podcast over a year ago where Cliff(?) was asked about this title and he said they asked about it but MGM wouldn't let them have the negative to make a scan because it was in such bad shape they were afraid it would disintegrate. Does anybody remember that?

So if its really Scream Factory then I'm guessing they'll announce it next month during comic-con?

It's not the same thing. Not even remotely. In this case there's a date, and it should be announced very soon. That's the only reason why I hid it.

Re: Pan's Labyrinth, Criterion is the only label that have a deal with WB, so trying to keep that under wraps would be absurd and pointless.

At any rate, this is not a guessing contest. The news is that a new transfer is coming and it will be all revealed shortly. Besides, if you're that eager to know the name of the label, you could always PM me. I'm always glad to share the good news with trustworthy folks.

I'd like to see the deleted 'hail of stones' footage and any other excised material on this release-if it still exists?

When scream released their Carrie double feature they said they did not have access to the original film so something would of to have changed for it to be scream.

Some promising news here. I held off on purchasing this title cause I was displeased with the screenshots posted throughout. Hopefully it will receive a Criterion or Arrow. SF covers are always lame imo.

That's true, the Scream cover would be an 80s movie poster art style with Carrie in the center and then every single supporting character's head floating around her in a circle, instead of any appropriate cover which would be Carrie by herself. Art doesn't affect my buying decisions, though.

Yeah, I remember. MGM must have did the new scan, then licensed it.
