totaaly agree, i loved the first one, it was really entertaining, but i couldnt even see the second one, it was so ridiculously dark

Stargate, I love the movie but I thought the transfer was horrible, an I can't seem to get a copy with the Alien Subtitles on in the movie

V for vendetta is bad. I liked Independence day and Men in black though. V for vendetta is worth a dollar rental.

I'm a stargate fan. I wish they would do this movie justice. Give it a good digital remastering with a pcm uncompressed audio track higher than 16 bit. I want this blu in my collection, but transfer isn't good. It's like Shooter. Good video, but poor audio (due to no uncompressed track). All blu-ray should have a minimum of an uncompressed track.

These are discs I bought. The list would be longer if I included the blu's sent to me for review over the years and rentals.

-Interview with the Vampire (no remote effort given by Warner; a prime example how not to do high def)
-Prom Night (not a bad movie, if you're 18 and have never seen a slasher before)
-Beerfest (maybe if I drank - otherwise the story just wasn't as clever as former Broken Lizard flicks and lacked merit)
-Beowulf and Grendel (not a bad flick at all, just a little too low rent considering the fantastical grandeur and timelessness of the story)
-Delta Farce (one of those times I should have listened to the critics)
-Oldboy (solid film, just not something I'd want to watch twice)
-One Last Thing (same as Oldboy)
-Robin Hood Season 1 (started to grow on me by the end of the season, but still too little originality or style to get excited about)
-Shinobi (lots of style, but despite my love for wire-fu, the superhuman feats needed severe taming or better justification, and the story was too reliant on them)
-The Signal (hoping for another Slither or even Pulse, got something neither funny nor intense, just different in a mostly unappealing way, maybe I needed to adjust expectations)
-Tiger Blade (worth renting, not buying)

I just watched the UK Until Death release. It is 1080p, but it is definitely not 1080 source. There is no more picture detail in it tha the SD release. Not happy.

Thanks for that post. Very informative. I'll make sure not to waste time on those films.

Most of my WB releases, most have poor PQ and standard DD. Also a lot of the ones I bought when Blu was in its early stages and good movies were scarce, were a bit of a stretch. I always read PQ and AQ reviews before purchasing nowadays.

Don't let yourself miss out on anything because someone else didn't like it, not even a professional reviewer like me. I'm glad I gave every one of the films that I've seen a look. I just wish I had rented those above instead of a blind-buy. Well, Interview... wasn't blind to the film, only to disc quality.

Italian job, by far the worst pq of any of my blu-rays. Just look at the scene were Mark W. and Jason S. are playing basketball, the pixilation is horrible and thats all you can focus on. The car chase scenes look good but to much grain in my opinion. Awesome movie though.

Thanks for the post. I was on the fence about getting this blu. I agree the movie is great. But your post about the picture will keep me from buying it.

Default Very Rarely

Very rarely will I purchase a Blu ray without watching the movie first.
Except in rare instances.

Although I do make a purchase once in a while, that I am sorry about. like 2001 Space Odyssey.
Only because I have so many other fantasy titles that I consider to be more entertaining.

Sleepy Hollow. It looked EXACTLY like the standard version DVD. I wish I had read the user ratings on here before purchasing.

Good post. I was thinking about this blu. I like the movie and depp, but if its not better than the dvd then whats the point?!?! I'm definitely not getting it now. Hopefully, they'll remaster it at mpeg 4 and give an uncompressed pcm track higher than 16 bit. Also, a price tag $10 or less would be nice.
