Have to agree as well, and yet people are letting a $5 shipping charge stop them... $5...... one-two-three-four-five single dollars! Just skip your next trip to Starbucks and BAM, there's your $5.

Assuming Carrie jumps down to Raising Cain's price on Amazon, I'll be saving $19 by buying the standard edition on Amazon compared to the limited edition on SF's site. I do get free Prime shipping though, so that factors into it. But I really can't justify spending that much extra money on posters, slipcovers, and early shipping. I'd rather just spend the money I saved on another blu-ray.

How dare you?! You label yourself a Carrie superfan with that avatar, and don't even want to pay 19 extra bucks to get it early?!

I know! I might have felt differently if I hadn't just gone on a huge Carrie kick. Within the last year, I saw the musical twice and caught a screening of the original movie at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Then I bought and watched both remakes and the sequel. So I'm ready for a break. I figure by Halloween, I'll be up for watching the original again.

Also, I can't get used to that blue teal or whatever that is.

As for Blow Out you're probably right. I was comparing the caps on caps-a-holic and Arrow's is slightly brighter. Indeed Criterion looks better.
From what I remember, Criterion said that De Palma had brought up the framing issue when he first went over the transfer, they changed it, but then accidently used the misframed transfer on the initial pressing. The way it looks now is what was "De Palma approved".

That's pretty much my reason. I'm building up a poster collection (ok...hoarding really) for the eventual home theater I'm setting up, and I like options. The difference between the regular and limited edition is already cheaper than what the extra poster'd go for on ebay, and that's assuming I don't try to sell the second slipcover to try to get some of the money back. The earlier ship date is nice, but I'd probably end up saving watching it for October anyway, so this just lets it be a week or two early in October.

Isn't Shout usually all about reversible artwork with the original theatrical poster art on the other side? Why not with this release?

If they don't have the original art on the reverse side I will definitely doff their Iron Maiden style bullshit art for the MGM release's sleeve, ha ha. My expectation is that the reverse of the actual cover will be the poster art.

Why would you think this isn't like every other scream release with reversible slip?

Pretty sure they are trolling, they know SF CEs always have the original poster art.

When was that? Did they show an actual film print? Just wondering how it looked because I saw it a while back at the New Beverly and the print they had was badly faded.

Hollywood Forever just projects a DVD on the side of a big mausoleum wall, and people lay down on blankets, eat, drink alcohol, and smoke pot. I saw CARRIE there about 8 years ago and the sound was muffled and you couldn't make out the dialog, so I had to maneuver my way through the massive crowd of blankets and people sitting in the dark to tell the DVD-player "technician" to turn the audio up for people further back. Before I got back to our group, I had missed the first 15 minutes of the film. Then, the rest of the film, people are talking through it and stumbling into you or falling over. That's when we said "never again". If I want to watch a film, I'll just stay home and watch my disc of it - better presentation, and I won't be forced to pay a so-called rip-off "donation" (which is mandatory) to wait in line for hours to get in and deal with annoying crowds of people, most of them there for the experience of this massive stoned picnic; the film is secondary to most there. I still can't get over that this company rakes in probably well over $50K every Saturday night just for projecting a DVD on a wall, sometimes twice when they have a Sunday show.

It looked better than a DVD, so I'm guessing they upgraded to blu-ray, but yeah, I can't really fault schlock's description. But that's exactly what I was expecting, so I had a blast. Drunk, stoned, yelling at the screen. "I should have killed myself when he put it in me!" It's an experience. Mommie Dearest and Showgirls were equally fun. And of course, I also appreciate Carrie on a more serious level, but I'd rather watch it at home for that experience. I think I've only been to the New Beverly once. It was for Deathdream and the print was so badly faded that I never went back.

Dammit man...that limited edition cover looks way better than the standard.

But $35?

...I can't go for that.

Why would you think that? It was posted more than once in this thread that it will, and they're listed on the Shout links, as well as in the first post of this thread (Visualizing Carrie and Acting Carrie). Unless you mean something other than those two very good features from the MGM special edition?
