just ordered and bummed to hear the compression/pq isn't so good and 1080i. I have both Warhols on the JP BDs with great PQ, but Frankenstein has optical blurring on the naughty bits.

Yea the 1080i is a total bummer, but not as near a bummer as blurred naughty bits...

I've got a Japanese DVD of a Scream in the Streets (as the SWV dvd is long OOP and goes for ridiculous money) and it's truly boggling how optical blurring pulls you right out of the film

I was in total agreement with you guys, but sad to say, I just watched the Australian Frankenstein BD, and the PQ was so much better on the JP BD that I think I will just hold out hopes that Criterion or someone puts out a good HD presentation of these one day. Shocked to say for now I'll watch the JP BD in the future and just brace myself for the optical blurring moments. The film is so campy with it's 3-D anyway, that I try to just think of the blurring as an unintentional comedic addition. At least there's no blurring on Dracula.
Funny, in the one blurred scene I compared, at the brothel...on the OZ BD the shadow areas are much darker, Joe Dellesandro's scrotum is so darkened it's already "censored". I was like, why did the JP bother to blur this?..till I looked at the JP BD and saw everything is so much more detailed, and the shadow areas are also clearly visible. But don't get me wrong, I usually steer clear of anything censored.

The Australian FFF also misses off the Criterion commentary. Weird because the same label's BFD has the Criterion track for that film. Both have the still galleries set to the score though. Both also run 24fps despite being 1080i.

I’ve got both the Cult Cinema BDs, and the new 4K of Blood for Dracula

With a 3D projector this will soon be added.
