Sure the lead is white, but the entire movie is about coaching an underprivileged group of kids in the inner city. It deals with gangs and the kids needing a good influence.

It seems to really segment an already smaller section of films by requiring the cast to be mostly black.

Another one that just popped into my head is Spare Parts. In many ways it fits the urban film while also being family friendly.
La Haine was the first one that popped in to my head, but the cast is mostly white

1. Boyz N The Hood
2. Jackie Brown
3. City of God
4. Training Day
5. Hustle & Flow
6. Menace II Society
7. Straight Outta Compton
8. Do The Right Thing
9. Dead Presidents
10. Black Dynamite

A couple are a stretch but all of these films have a predominantly black cast and all are definitely urban.

Can someone provide me a list of Urban films that I can go off from? I'm kinda struggling to come up with some from the offset.

Well, that's certainly an interesting photo.

Not sure it would be considered a hood/urban film, though. The term is generally used when referring to films that feature aspects of African-American or Hispanic-American culture.

Yet the Warriors is given pass for its multi-cultural cast.

The settings are the same, but less Black folks.

I'll list the ones I've seen, but I have to admit, as a genre it's not one I'm particularly fond of:

The Warriors
Do The Right Thing
King of New York
La Haine
City of God
Street Kings
Gran Torino
End of Watch
Spring Breakers
Dope
Straight Outta Compton

Here's some I think haven't been flagged up but I think they should be up to debate:

Dheepan
Victoria
Attack the Block
Tsotsi
Dirty Pretty Things
Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai

Wow! Tsotsi? I'm pleasantly surprised to see that film mentioned on this forum.

Having seen all the other films on that second list, I would only agree that Attack the Block and Ghost Dog are hood/urban films. But, it's not my thread, or my rules.

I don't know why you keep asking me about qualifying films, since I didn't create this thread, but my advice would be to create a list using or not using the films the OP thinks qualify and leave it at that.

Its his rules ,but were all here in the thread.

Wiki & IMDB arent written in stone.

There are films off their radar yet we use their guidelines....

I'm not using anyone's guidelines. Foggy asked for a list, so I gave him one. You can put whichever films you want on your list. But, I'm not sure you like, or have even seen those films you keep sharing, I think you are just trying to be contrarian. That's fine, but it's not my problem. I have seen enough films in my short life time to come up with a list of 25 films that fall within the OP's parameters.
