Something about her stinks.

I think she's doing it for the publicity and will attempt to turn the trial into a cause celebre, at the expense of Naz's defense.

...at some point Naz will realize this and bring Mr. Foot Fungus back into the mix.

It's not unheard of. A lot of lawyers do what's called "pro bono" work:

seriously, usually murder cases have more than 1 person working it and they all need to be paid...

feel bad for John , but if it was my son i would want the best lawyer in the business.

You do know how much these people get paid right? They can afford to do a lot of free work.
