While I feel it is better than forcing some buyers into an either/or decision, there's little doubt that they will not count them as 3D sales. That's why some TV mfgrs dropped 3D from sets (despite strong sales)..it's ALL about pushing 4K.,,from ads/reviews making 4K seem better than the very marginal difference over good 1080p that it is and minimizing/hiding 3D from consumers. I'm inclined to agree with you, unfortunately Samsung started all this 3D vs. 4K trouble by launching UHD players and immediately removing 3D from their new TVs.

I don't think I'll ever be able to forget that douchebag move by Samsung.

VERY much a douchebag move...particularly since the players also offer 3D!
Needless to say, I won't be buying Samsung products going forward.
