The comparison is obvious, but at least a wounded rich guy travelling to the East to better himself was already Doc Strange's story.

I have but I think Doctor Strange looks like its own film in its own right rather than Batman Begins MK2.

Nobody said BB Mk2. There's a few cursory elements that evoke BB. It's not always everything or nothing.

Dude, the writer himself compares it to Batman Begins:

Definitely can see all of those references but most notably the Inception one. I'm going to check it out because of Benedict Cumberbatch, love his acting. Don't know much about Strange but I'll give anything that is sci-fi/mystical a chance.

Of all the movies to take influences from, these are three good choices imo

That joke of his (and other people across the internet) was old and tired the same day it started when that first teaser hit.

Doctor Strange did Not take influence from those movies.

His origin in the comics is pretty much what you see in the trailers so the Batman Begins comparison isn't legit. As a huge Batman fan Bruce traveled all over and not just like he did in BB.

As for The Matrix and Inception.

Doctor Strange has always dealt with other dimensions as well as warping reality, beats Inception by quite a few decades. Not to mention it doesn't involve dreams.

I don't see The Matrix comparison. Is it because he's training with someone? That also beats out The Matrix by decades because once again it's faithful to his comic origin.

I understand if people just aren't interested in what they see but calling it a rip off of those movies is in fact bull s***.

I get what you're saying, but influence isn't a rip off. It isn't the same thing. The city bending scene looks to be influenced by Inception. I don't know the comics for Dr Strange so i can't tell if that exact thing was done in comics, but movie wise it clearly looks influenced by Inception. That isn't saying it ripped off Inception though.

Fair enough.

I just hope the final movie kind of shuts people up just a tad. If they do this movie right they will have him going into the truly crazy psychedelic alternate worlds and dimensions/portals. I hope they just don't want to ruin all that in the trailers. They include that stuff from a lot of the comics it will definitely set this film apart from those films mentioned.

I'm not opposed to the joke, even if some posters mean it that way.

While the character may not have been influenced by any of those, this movie most certainly will. The parallels are present from a visual standpoint. Considering those three movies came before Doctor Strange was on most people's radar, those should get credit from a cinematic angle. I might even go so far as to say without those films, this Doctor Strange film might not be possible. Much in the same way we can look at older films paving the way for newer ones. There's no harm in recognizing that.

Doctor Strange is one of my favourite heroes, if not my absolute favourite. The possibilities of putting Kirby and Colan's visuals on the big screen fills me with excitement to no end. I have not been so excited for a super hero film before.

On another note, Doctor Strange has dealt with dreams quite a bit. One of his main enemies is Nightmare, who resides in the dream realm.

I completely agree with your hopes regarding the crazy psychedelic visuals. The brief visual we got in Ant-Man is a taste of what might be in store. Along with the description of a dark fantasia, I think the ingredients and direction are there for something special.
