Canada 2016 Right Stuf Anime survey for Canadian customers

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/rscanada
Quote:
2016 Right Stuf Anime Survey For Our Canadian Friends!

How can we help you when you're looking for Stuf?

We love Canada. It's just like Iowa, except different. We really want to better understand and serve fans in Canada, and we're willing to bribe you to take some of your valuable time to do so. Everyone who completes this survey (like all the way to the end, no cheating!) will be entered to win one of five (5!) US$50 gift cards you can use at rightstufanime.com. For anything you want!

A little about us, in case you don't already know: Right Stuf was started in 1987. Which is like forever ago, when Final Fantasy was born. We are the largest online anime-specific retailer for anime, manga, figures, and merchandise in North America (which includes Canada). Our customer care people are based in the US, not some nameless foreign land working for pennies. We have almost a bazillion different items for sale - more than 22,000 items listed on our website at rightstufanime.com. We even take orders the old fashioned way if you like retro - by mail, by phone, and even by FAX! You remember FAX, right? Believe it or not, people still use it. And rotary phones. Anyway, our goal here is to really understand what, how, and why Canadians buy, so we can make your experience even better. So by helping us, you hopefully help yourself too. Plus you can see that Iowa exports more than just Corn.
As a Canadian who never buys anything from TRSI due to the high shipping costs, I appreciate the fact that they are holding this survey. I thought I’d create a thread for it so that it doesn’t get buried in the sticky threads.

What are you talking about when you say high shipping costs? They offer free shipping to Canada if you spend $249. Very rare for a US retailer to offer free shipping to Canada.

What if I don't want to spend $249 worth of stuff every time I want to buy at TRSI? Also, what an Amazon?

Its quite easy to spend $249 at TRSI especially during their annual sale in December (when I buy most of my stuff). And you are better off waiting for Right Stuf's annual sale then buying anime off Amazon.ca (especially Sentai releases). Only anime I buy off Amazon.ca are Viz releases. HMV sometimes have good prices on Funimation titles.

Free shipping for $249 is one thing, but spending that much at one time will still require you to pay customs and handling fees, plus the exchange rate is always a factor. All in all you may not necessarily be saving *quite* as much as one might quite expect, at least compared to the cheapest price you can find from a Canadian anime seller.

I rarely buy off Amazon.ca themselves, but I do find some pretty good prices in their marketplace sometimes.

You don't pay customs or handling fees with Rightstuf. They charge tax when you checkout so you avoid all that stuff. Plus they ship with Fedex so you get your stuff fast.

Edit: Plus RightStuf has the best packaging in the business so you don't have to worry about stuff arriving damaged.

Is the tax the equivalent to what you would pay anyway through regular customs fees, or is it more a flat rate thing?
