And gotta confess, the campy day-glo theme-villain "cross-country Gran Prix" half of Speed Racer felt a lot more like a true updated "Death Race 2000" remake than this humorless overreaching poseur...
Lionsgate needs to start taking themselves less seriously, and start getting the heck over said object, to boot.

I just saw it tonight as it is on the big screens over here. An entertaining movie though not a very deep one. The issue of the dangers and abuses of excessive privatization though implied by the very plot of the movie, does not get the attention it should. But if you are in for a popcorn movie then go for it.

Finally watched this last night. Pretty dam entertaining in Crank sort of way. My buddy and I were laughing quite a bit and smiling throughout most of the movie due to some great lines and deaths.

[Show spoiler]Who wasn't laughing when the modified gas cargo truck was unvieled

Favorite kill at the beginning was probably the guy who drove into the spikes... still alive briefly then the spikes pull downward into a car crusher, we were literally laughing our asses off

i love this movie as well, just a fun action flick
