i am of a different thought on the movie. While its YWP worst movie by far its still leapts and bound better than the original. I dont find the original movie even to be watchable.

but this was a huge dissapointment

How is the 3D in this? I guess the eventual US release will not include a 3D version, which makes the HK version somewhat interesting despite not having the original english voices.

The 3D is decent, up to Hollywood standards - nothing too eye-popping but respectable enough in terms of depth and object separation.

It's a definite improvement over the 2D version.

The yesasia site lists this release as, "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny (2016) (Blu-ray) (2D + 3D) (Hong Kong Version)". However, although the packaging itself says "3D" on the front, spine & back, there's no mention anywhere on the packaging of it also containing a 2D version (despite yesasia's listing saying it is "2D + 3D"). Does anyone here have first-hand knowledge that it actually does contain a 2D version as well? (I need to know as I don't currently have a 3D system & would like to have it in 3D for the future, but need it in 2D to view at present.) Thanks.

Thanks for your reply, wesslan! When you say, "most (all?) HK 3D movies also have a 2D option", are you referring to a selectable 2D menu option on the same disc that contains the 3D version? Because from what I can tell, the case seems to contain only one disc... Thanks.

HK loves one disc with branching 2D and 3D . Probably to expensive to give us separate encodes or something. Although I don't own this so I'm not 100%. Pretty sure there must be some reviews out on asian forums.

found this and it seems to confirm one disc with both options: Disc Title: Crouching.Tiger.Hidden.Dragon.Sword.of.Destiny.201 6.2D&3D.Blu-ray.1080p.AVC.TrueHD5.1

Excellent! I bought it from yesasia and already have it in hand. It arrived last week, but, noticing the lack of any mention of 2D on the packaging, I didn't want to unseal it and then risk having to deal with trying to return an opened package if there was no 2D version after all - especially without knowing if it was even possible that both versions could be on a single disc (which seems to be all the case likely contains). So, I emailed yesasia to ask them to definitively confirm whether it actually contains both versions as advertised before I open it. They promptly replied that they were unable to answer my question but that they would "forward the inquiry to their relevant team". However, that was 5 days ago, with no word from them since.

So, now that I know that, "HK loves one disc with branching 2D and 3D" (something I had no knowledge of before your reply above), it's probably worth the risk of my simply opening the case and seeing if the disc does have that 2D branching option... Thanks again!

As a follow-up - confirmed - yes, the disc menu does indeed have 2D/3D branching - just no mention of it (or of any form of a 2D version) anywhere on the case. Thanks for the input & help!

Nice. It's very lazy of them but probably because 3D is very hot in asia and the main sellingpoint.
