George Lucas will want to keep making money from Star Wars in years to come, so don't expect EVERYTHING yet :-)

You know, DSF, I bet that many who read the first post are NOT reading the date on it and think this is new information!

The FIRST post dates from 2005, chaps!

I was really hoping Lucas would flesh out the transformation sequence but he completely dropped the ball. It's hard to believe that people who are so in tuned with their emotions can flip a switch like that. I think the Death of his mother as the "flip" should've been saved for the 3rd movie and it would be more genuine.

I liked how Vader turns good in EP6, as it's the life of his son brings out the good in him. That simply wasn't the case in EP3. The "I need him" excuse doesn't work for me.

I think Lucas should've been more clear here and if he had Anakin Kill Windu, he could've used that as a scapegoat and said that the good of the force leaves you once you kill your kin (ie, a Jedi) and you're vulnerable to the dark side. Nothing like that happened. Instead we get: "The jedi are now our enemies. Now go kill a bunch of kids" "Duh, ok, Master".
The point is he had been pulling Anakins strings for years, manipulating him and working him to this point. It was NOT instant.

what information? Wasn't it more of a question? It's still not out on Blu-ray, so the question is still valid.

Manipulating maybe, but the switch to 'real evil,' so to speak, was pretty much instantaneous.

Exactly. Remember, Anakin ratted out Palpatine. He told the Jedis he was Sith. He wouldn't have done that if he was under Palpatine's influence.

I disagree. It would pretty well built from the beginning of the movie until his transformation. He even discovers that Papatine was the sith and he still tries to tell Mace Windu. Windu acted like a ***** and so when Anakin arrived he thought that Windu was being evil. Then of course the Emperor put on a little show and Anakin accidentally caused Windu's death. After that he was broken completely. He had no choice because he was going to be imprisoned anyways, so he decided to switch and at least try and save his wife. I thought it was very well played.

You haven't revealed anything that none of us knew. That's the way Lucas wanted to show it. He was dropping hints with Anakin slipping up and calling Palpatine "Master" before he was revealed as a Sith. I get the Show and the whole bit. This whole time we've been told that anger and fear fuels him. His mother's death contributed to near extinction of the Sand People. That was understandable and the "switch" flipped. But after Windu's death and his lame "What have I done" (I have the lines pretty much memorized" ) remark shows that he's still not pulled to the darkside. But that it was a conscious decision to join the darkside rather than be turned. Hence, a few minutes later, when he kills all those kids are completely out of character and non-believable. He is good - by nature. We saw this in Ep1. That's why his turn is so undercut by how it was portrayed. This is where Lucas fails as a stoy teller. He has great ideas but putting things together isn't his forte.

My thoughts, exactly! Then again, if he started a new thread, he'd have been hammered about not using the search function and starting yet another SW on Blu thread!

Damned if you do...damned if you don't.

Actually you come across as one of those people that say they like something just for the sake of being different.

Btw, my original comment was more geared towards you finding DVD acceptable for any movie.

Could you possibly find an older and more pointless post to bring back?

He already went that far in Attack of the Clones. When he killed the Tusken Raider village.

Not even going anywhere near this unless it's the original theatrical versions.

That will never happen. The original cuts arn't even being maintained any longer.

The best you'll get if Lucas is generous is a release of the Laserdisc ports like is now on DVD.

And I applaud him for it.
